That is, if she's interested in the job. I find her one of the most mature & fair-minded people around here and would step in very nicely for the departing Stephistan.

When you look at the species here who don't want Bottle, it just shows how badly she's needed...

That this ilk dislikes Bottle so much should be a source of great pride to her. 8)
18-06-2004, 17:07
Unfortunately Garaj mahal doesnt realise that suggesting bottle almost certainly eliminates her from the running. They only ever ask you, you dont ask them and they dont take nominations.

I also dont think they've ever taken well established players. Take steph and TG. I barely noticed they existed and then they suddenly became mods.

Actually, I don't really think she should become a mod either, if only because she seems to irritate people quite often and that would just spell more trouble for the mods.

However, I did not vote in the poll. I'm not in the forums enough to really care all too much, so I'll leave my actual vote out of it.

From what I can see, Bottle seems only to irritate intolerant rightwing nut-jobs. These people are irritated by *anyone* of fairness & intelligence as the next new Mod will soon find out.

Do you really think Bottle wants to have to deal with all the whining and stupidity of NS 10 times over by becoming a Mod? I think she could do the job if she wanted, but I think she'd be crazy to want it.

P.S. Bottle irritates me sometimes, and I'm hardly a right-wing nutjob.

Her inconsistant views on social relationships (ie, they favor bisexuality, but not anarcho-communism) are annoying at times, but she's a better choice for mod than most.

I'm pretty sure that any thread started with the aim of getting a specific person appointed to modhood will result in the failure of that person to become a mod. Besides, I have it on good authority they're not looking to replace Steph at the moment. So stop hounding.

I think that Bottle would make an excellent mod.

Actually, we have. Most moderators have established a rather visible record by the time we look at them.

The first batch of five moderators were reasonably prominent on the forums, and many of the subsequent appointees have been both well established and fairly visible folks. The first batch of five moderators were selected out of a pool of very public nominations from the community as a whole, made in broad daylight in the forums.

The reason you probably didn't notice Stephistan and TG is because by the time we looked them over, folks had started to specialize in forums, and they probably simply frequented different forums than you. Before her appointment as a moderator, for example, Stephistan was very visible (and very helpful) in the UN forum section, which you probably never visited yourself.

We don't make people mods to shut them up. Track them down in person, disappear them, and run their account in our best fascimile of them...

1) Who the HELL is " Bottle " ? ? ? :D

2) Its not like we really have a say or can " support " their becoming a mod, right ? They, ( the Moderation staff ) ask, and the person says yes or no. We have practically no say in the matter.

there were three mods who were elected, by poll in threads.
I dont feel like tyuping more on that,

One could argue that the original group (Melkor, Menelmacar, TJ, and Faeoras (or however it was spelled, I ferget)) were "civilian appointed" as [violet] asked for opinions in the matter. However then, as now, [violet] had the final say.

There have been other threads with polls listing several people and asking "Which do you prefer" and favored people have been picked, but that seems to be largely coincidence.

As for this particular thread, we really don't care, to be perfectly honest. If we think someone's qualified, we won't discount them over a thread like this.

Feoras (puppet of Demoness) is the correct spelling.
