Err, my first nation, Pax Salam was deleted just a few minutes ago...is there some reason for this or is it just cause of inactivity (I thought logging on in the forums constituted activity, do I have to log into the game?)

Maybe you said something "they" found unacceptable.

I really hope not, my last comment was something about tricking the Pepsi Challenge people. Maybe there's a pepsi employee mod.

Yes, you actually have to log onto the game in order to avoid inactivity deletion, which sounds like this might be the case.

<--- not a mod.

Pax Salam last logged in 28 days ago and died of inactivity. This wasn't a Moderator action.

On the presumption that you still want that nation, I have resurrected it.

But the last post he made was back in...today. That doesn't make sense.

But the last post he made was back in...today. That doesn't make sense.

In that case, the most likely explanation was that he accessed the forums directly* without logging into the game. He would therefore be able to post without resetting the "Most Recent Government Activity:" timer.

To avoid being deleted for inactivity, you must log into your nation; bypassing the game and logging into the forums directly will not suffice.

* To clarify, I mean that he accessed the forum page directly by going to http://www.nationstates.net/forum/index.php and NOT http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi. When you do that, you're not recognized by the forum as being logged in. When you try to post to a topic, you are then asked by the forum to log in. Doing so allows you to post, but does the forum does not inform the game that you have logged in. Thus, if you've been logging only into the forums, and not the game, for 28 days, then as far as the game is concerned, you have been inactive that entire time and the game will instruct the forums to delete your forum account.
