Complaint against Stephistan.

I have decided to make a complaint against Stephistan for her comments in a particular thread (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=148950&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20).
I have tolerated her very anti-Catholic posts and extremely offensive comments, especially against the Pope, but I will not tolerate it any longer. I know she doesn't like religion (espeically the Catholic Church) which she is all too happy to say all the time, but I feel that her comments in this particular thread were completely out of line - and so do most other people in that thread.
Had she said the same thing about a Jew, gay or black person she would've been rapped by the mods or by somebody higher I suppose (though I'm not bringing the fact she is a mod into it).
She has also made offensive comments about somebody who suffers from a disease - is that right? Just because he is the Pope does not mean it is fine to make those comments.
I would be most grateful if she were to edit or at least change her post to be less offensive - but I already know what the outcome of this will be.

Every moderator is intitled to have an opinion, and express it in this forum. In this case I rather had her using a puppet for this.

I think that that could be replaced by anyone, Yasser Arafat, Ariel Sharon, Bush, Blair, Chirac... I don't think it would be that different. I can understand that you're offended, but I think that the double standard that is being applied here might be mod/player rather than catholic/other.
If Steph says something offensive in a non-mod role, challenge her on it like you would anyone else. Personally, while I'm not offended by what she says because I am not a catholic, I might well rap Steph over the knuckles for being a "bad liberal". Either way I don't think that this is a case for the mod forum.

OMG! I R IGNR STEFISTUN!!!!!
No...not really.
Anyway, the office of The Pope is rather like that of the President, you should respect THE OFFICE, even if you dont respect the person holding it.
In both cases you could be smited/nuked/beaten by secret service and/or Swiss Guards ;)

I wasn't trying to bring the fact that Steph is a moderator into this.

CE, I think the fact that she is a mod and the consequences of her breaking the rules are much more severe than a regular player automatically brings her mod status into this.
I'm not saying whether I agree or disagree with this, as I like both you and Steph.

How? This is how I would normally, and have done in the past, reacted to people after they consistently make offensive comments like this.
I haven't gone to the mods or made a thread before when she's said stuff like this - which she has done a hell of a lot. But I am fed up now with it and the constant rudeness of it.
How I am treating her any different?

You trivialised what I said.
Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word rude but I didn't know what other word to use.
That was a pretty offensive comment.....
I don't that much should be done about it or not, even if it was though, in the interest of free speech, Although I still think some basic respect is a good idea. Although I'm sure I'm not all that good at that either.

It's true.
If you met someone that's 31 yrs. old who believes in the tooth fairy, would you think he's insane? Yes, you would. So why is it any different with "god," "Buddah," or "Allah?"
And besides, aren't Catholics the ones who their Priests are pedophiles?

Whether or not the statement is true is irrelevant. What is relevant is that this is the Moderation forum. Religious debates belong in General.

The Pope is an old man who's going a little , shall we say "loose" in the head.. lol..
Doesn't he go against every thing the bible is suppose to teach? I mean all that worshipping false idols and all..
The Pope is nothing but a man... I doubt he has a direct line to any thing but the bar...
Lets look at what I actually said..posted above.. I didn't flame any one.. except maybe the Pope.. last time I checked, I don't believe he's a member of this site. I'm sorry if it was offensive to others. However, lets be real here, we have people who insult Bush, Kerry, the USA, Canada, the UK etc etc etc ....The Pope is no different.
Yes, every one has a right to believe what they wish.. and if you believe in the Catholic church or any church for that matter that is your right. Just as it's my right not to. Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion.
All those people who make threads saying God exists and Atheists are OMG going hell.. Or, that we are amoral etc, the list goes on.. what exactly is the difference? I'm not seeing it. Mostly the post was made it jest..
You can't pick and choose what you'd like people to say on any subject provided they don't break the rules.. My post above clearly shows I did no such thing.
You don't have to agree with me, but because I don't have any respect for the Pope for a variety of reasons.. that doesn't mean I broke the rules.
It would serve some people good around here to try and get a sense of humor.
Next time you insult some thing I don't like, should I assume you're breaking the rules because it might go against some thing I believe? Of course not. That would be just silly. We have many debates and comments are made all the time that other people don't like, that doesn't mean they broke the rules.
Now, if the Pope had been a member of this site, perhaps that would of been different, just like if Bush or Kerry or Blair or Howard or any other "leader" of any thing.
Jewish people are a race.. Catholic's are not.. it's a religion. Therefore to my mind, fair game. Just like the numerous threads about how Mormons are a cult etc..etc.. I don't see any one running to mod to complain when any of the above are insulted.
I'm sorry if I offended any one, but I don't retract my post.. I see nothing wrong with it.

The Italians invented the pope. How dare you insult him Steph. :D
But we are all entitled to our own opinions.
I happen to agree with stephistan and I am a religious person... though not a catholic... there is such a thing as Fredom of Religion being the same thing as Freedom from Religion... I read her post and saw nothing offensive... maybe if she mentioned something about the whole preist=pedophile thing... ok, maybe... but not what she said... what she "said" is the same thing that goes on in any thread on this site... capitalists vs. socialists/communists, atheists vs. "beleivers"(in religion), "beleivers"(in religion)vs. "beleivers"(in aliens)... it's all the same... someone is crazy... someone is not... get over it move on and have fun with the game... but what do i know... i'm not a mod... 8)
Like I said I don't know that anything should be done about it, it was offensive though.

Lots of things offend me.. but that's life.. things will and do offend people some times. That doesn't mean the person doesn't have a right to say it. I suppose a better course of action would of been for CE to Telegram me with his upset, instead of bringing a pointless complaint about me to mod. I broke no rules.. therefore this doesn't belong here. But to each their own. I certainly have no problem with some one feeling they need to take me to task.. but mod is suppose to be for rule violations.. not for when you get offeded by some one who may not share your point of view.

It seems there's been a lot of pointless offense taken as of late, Steph being the latest victim of people's offense.
how is... "The Pope is an old man who's going a little , shall we say "loose" in the head.. lol..

The Pope is nothing but a man... I doubt he has a direct line to any thing but the bar..." offensive??? she made valid points... the pope is just a man... how can he somehow have anymore say with "God" than I do??? and what if he does go against everything the bible is supposed to teach... like the commandment she mentions... THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME... and to be honest the pope is a little old... she never mentioned the disease which he has... or makes fun of him in anyway... i find none of this to be offensive in anyway...
Like I said I don't know that anything should be done about it, it was offensive though.

Thats why I said though, I don't really think anything should be done about it,I was just registering my offense.

Well, I was VERY offended. Well, not really. I'm not catholic, you see. But I'd like to soon be. Anyhow. On behalf of the pope, I'd like to accept your apology. Given your strong views on the Catholic Religion, it was very big of you to do.

I'm pretty new at this Catholic thing, but my understanding is that Catholics believe that the Pope is kind of like God's Ambassador here on earth. Most feel pretty strongly about it too.
-A little off topic I guess. Maybe this thread should be locked. I don't see where Steph violated any rules (of this site).

I cannot believe this.
I read that thread and Steph's comment didn't strike me as being overly offensive. I think you people are being too sensitive.
Calling the Pope an "old man" is anticatholic hatemongering?
Come on. Use your heads.
If the pope himself read that, I seriously doubt he would be offended by it.

BTW, on the catholics claim of the Pope being God's representative on earth.
Jesus, the foundation of our faith said,
"No one comes to the Father except through me."
"I will send you the holy ghost to make all of you ambassadors of me to the nations."

Earth Confederacy, that belongs in General I believe. Someone was already told that Moderation isn't the place to debate religion.
Back on topic. Even though I am a practicing Catholic and disagree with what Steph has to say, there is nothing in there worth reporting to the moderators in that comment. I think that the post was ment to be a light hearted comment and everyone is overreacting because Steph is a mod. It also seems like some people already had hard feelings twoards Steph and jumped on this as a way to get, I don't know, get back at her for something she did in the past.
Although you may not agree with what she has to say, you need to respect the fact that she has the right to say it.

Well, I think every one has had their say here.. I think it's obvious I didn't break the rules. For what it's worth I was brought up Catholic and did my First Communion and my Confirmation.
I would have stayed around to debate by opinion , sadly I wasn't feeling very well and went to bed rather early last night and stayed in bed thanks to my wonderful husband all day.
My comments where in no way meant to personally offended any one.. more so they were comments made from personal issues I may or may not have with the Pope.. none of you were subject to my remarks.. other then having to read them, also they really weren't really all that bad if you go back and read my post.
On that note I'm putting this to bed.. If you feel like you have not been heard, by all means feel free to start another thread.. But I can't see what more can really come of this.
Thank You.
