Ok here's a dumb question but I'll ask anyway.
I've discovered a nation with my last name, and it's been inactive for 14 days when I spotted it. So therefore I would like to claim it as mine on the following grounds. My last name Habeland, is an extremely rare name in Germany. The only other people I am aware of having it are all directly related to me, unliker the more common form Haberland. I know that the person might just have chosen it because it literally means have land...
So therefore I'd like to claim that country if you guys will let me.
The nation has been inactive for 6 days now, I'm assuming the original owner could have lost interest in it so if I can't take charge of it immedietaly could it be transferred to me if it moves dangerously close to Deletion, as I'd like to immortalise my last name in this wonderful game of ours ;)

We cannot honor this request. I have to discuss the details with the other Moderators, but I believe that a family name per se cannot be copyrighted, trademarked, or regarded as intellectual property.

A company that's been named after a particular family (for example, a family business) might be able reasonably claim a trademark on the name, but that would not extend to NationStates.

No Moderator action will be taken. Sorry.

I know of a few names that I have tried for nations but the owners have ceased to exsist. Meaning that the name cannot be used. Would it be possible for me to request a resurrection of a nation with a name that I want?

I know it doesn't sound very plasuible, but I only want one.

As Cogitation has said it cant be done, if you want the name desperatly, try asking the nation for it, hope that the player doesnt want it anymore.

The whole point of being able to resurrect a nation is that it gives the original owner the right to bring it back to life if unforeseeable outside forces cause that person to not be able to log in.

Thus, if a nation is inactive, even for an extended amount of time, what right d'you have to take it, if say, that person doesn't have internet access or is in the hospital, or something they have no control over?

While you're at it, can you also restore all nations with "Kitty" in it? It is my name, and I hate to see them deleted. :lol: Tell me when you are done, and I have a few other names too. My sister's name, for instance :P

I have known several players main nations get to 20whatever days then sign back on, its worth the telegram even if you dont get the nation.

You'll be wasting your time. After a nation's deletion, it may still be revived by the owner.

Be careful what you wish for. With the nation, you also inherit her/his reputation. You wouldn't want a nation with a warning tag on it.

Anyway, the chance that an inactive player sees this thread, is almost nil.

If you did get that nation, would you inherit its reputation Mods?

I'm not worried about inheriting his or her reputation, I mean if I did get it I'd inform people of the changed ownership.
I know how low the chance is I'm just playing on the off chance that it's an inactive puppet. :(
