Gone missing - 2 posts which didn't contain pornographic words or Anglo Saxon.

Writing about my travels in Syria, Jordan and Morocco I put that i was fascinated by the cibara culture (just spell the word backwards)

I can only suppose that it is something to do with the a certain conflict in a certain middle eastern country...

...but hey! C'mon! I was saying how much i like these places and the people. I have friends who are cibara for goodness sake. And i can't use the word.

If they were on 7 they're gone for good.

Otherwise, I would blame Big mad Vikings. He claimed his posts were increasing unexplainably, without any action on his part.

He's gone now, too, so he's extra easy to blame.

I had a couple posts short of 1,000. Next time I look I had 950. How the hell did I loose 50 posts like that. I only posted once on forum 7.

I know.... I only posted a few times there... less than 5.... But, then again, I didn't see that much difference.

Most likely, the posts were lost in a recent purge.

What posts do the purges get rid of? I'm assuming they get rid of posts that are just stuff like "bump" and "tag". Am I right?

Well, there were about 986 pages on this forum - there are 940 now, so I guess they just deated about 40 to save space ...which was their excuse for getting rid of forum 7. Perhaps they'll deat themselves next...

Gone missing - 1,400 posts.....they could be anywhere!

My missing posts weren't on the forum...i sent posts to the rmb. 3 of them in one day and they just...disappeared!

Also tgs have disappeared recently - things i expected an answer to and when the answer didn't come i tged again to check if they had ever arrived...and was told not.

AND if that isn't bad enough - some tg's from other people which i deleted kept reappearing!!! Couldn't get rid of them for about 3 days.

Maybe the server went more wrong that usual?

Anyone else noticed anything weird happening...on NS that is :)

I just lost almost 200 posts. And I was so close to 1,000. It's a conspiracy, damnit! :shock:

he mods are on another purging spree. they deleted most of the posts that are more than 5 months old and they killed all word games and bar/tavern/club/pubs.

Oh. That explains it. A lot of my posts were in those bar things and word games.

I lost 20 posts today between the last time I posted and right now.

Seriously, relax. Yes, every word game on the first 50 or so pages was deleted, but you know what? They'd have been deleted at 65 pages anyway. The most recent post that was killed by Scolo or myself was from January 3rd. Ya know what? Had a global purge happened, those would have died too, and several more with it.

There is a new philosophy at work here. It seems that if something looks like it might be amusing it is deemed "spam lite" and vetted.
I thought this was a game, something to pass the time.

Y'know what? Spam may be fun. So's going out with one's friends when one's a freshmen when one's underage and getting plastered. Is either legal? Depends on the context. In the States, the latter is illegal. Similarily, on this site, the former is illegal.

Some people wanna play word-games and bash the previous person? They can go right on ahead--somewhere else where it's allowed. They wanna debate politics and international relations or even just -debate-? They can stay here.

I used the analogy before, I'll use it again. Climbing up the water slide at the water park might be fun. Is it allowed? No. The water slide is for sliding down, as determined by the people who paid to build and maintain it and the agents those self-same people appointed to uphold the rules. The exact same logic applies here.

If this site isn't fun anymore because we're cracking down on word games and ancient chat-rooms, the standard armaments of spammers and post-whores, tough. Find something else that is fun. Adapt to the situation. Make chat rooms on other boards--make them yourselves if you want to. Get on IRC or ICQ or any of those and make chat rooms and have fights. Nothing is keeping you here if you find it unpleasant.

Adaptation is a personal choice and we cannot make anyone choose one way or the other. That is up to that person's individual discretion.
