Ok I am all for free speech, but don't bag the PM in my thread ok. If you wish to criticise a political leader then you should attack their policies...not the person (rule #1 of a good politician)

I will criticise whomsoever I wish in any thread. The fact that you are the originator of a thread gives you no rights regarding either ownership nor censorship. And this remains the case irrespective of whether or not you claim to be in favour of free speech.

Please do not bring your aggression to this thread as well. This is supposed to be a fun discussion and you are being hostile.
Please stop and calm down or I will bring moderation in.
No more nasty comments please.

Aggression and nasty comments?
You attempted to set yourself up as owner and censor of the thread.
Call for moderation, mate, I hold no fears re their judgement.

COMMENT
I have a dislike for attempts to limit free speech. To claim ownership of a thread, and the ability to determine "nasty" comments is bad enough, but I would consider that a "threat" to call in Moderation in an attempt to impose such a regime is appalling.

Ruling please.

The author of the thread can decide what type of material and who can post in the thread, and the free speech on this site can only be limited by Max or a moderator as far as I know. I don't know, though, if the author can dictate your posts or not, though I doubt it. If he doesn't want you to post there, he can tell you not to, in which case you'd have to stop. Other then that, just avoid flaming with him, it's not worth it.

Him asking you not to bring your aggression into the thread should have been the end of it IMO because he said that the thread was a fan thread (which I suppose you're not, judging by your posts), and "aggressive" comments, I believe, are sufficient grounds for him to request you stop posting.

NS has no freedom of speech. You may only talk about what the Moderators, as agents of Max Barry, will allow, and they allow a great deal. They allow authors to ask people not to post in a thread. They will back up such requests, with force if necessary.

See The Real HLF incident. HLF was deleted because he continued to post after being asked to leave, and then flamed two moderators.

Aye, this thread is in General though and it's a political discussion. You can't post a thread about a political topic and not expect a debate in General. Provided you don't attack any player on NS, you're pretty much free to say what you like (as long as it's not baiting and or trolling) Which I see no evidence given Smeagol-Gollum was only responding to Lord Pheonix Benicius asking them to stop debating in the fashion they so chose. Besides, any political discussion in General is going to have people who dissent. An example would be "I think leader "abc" is an idiot" "Well I think leader "xyz" is a bigger idiot" is allowed. We allow it all the time. As long as it's not a personal attack on the player, it's fine. You really can't expect to just post a thread in General and then control what direction that thread may take other then to expect it to stay on topic. If you wish to do that then I suggest an RP in NS or II, not General.

Hope this clears this up for every one.

That being said, there's something to be said for being civil and respecting the wishes of people who create threads. Lord knows there's enough other threads to slam world leaders in. I'd like to think a civil conversation without the pointless ad hominem attacks can exist in General.

Eh. Who am I kidding?
