Do I need to be secretive?

... if I have more than 1 UN nation from different computers? Is it okay that I acknowledge both of these nations as mine, so long as I don't at any point control both from the same computer?

Gack! Why can't you quietly telegram them or something? Now you risk losing a mega-nation?

Eh, that really doesn't seem OK to me. You're still one player controlling two UN nations, and that definitely goes against the spirit of the rules if not the letter :?

One UN member nation per person. Is that so difficult to understand? :P

Long story short: No, it is not okay. :P

Yeh, that's what he means, right Spoff?

It's the nation state of the invisible pink pony god or something.

--The Modified Democratic States of CogitationIt wouldn't be difficult to understand, if that actually was the rule. In fact, the rule is one UN member nation per computer, otherwise they both get ejected. If it was one per person, then different people who had the same computer could each have one. But they can't. Also, it would be possible for me to do this (or at least get away with it) if I kept them secret and seperate, so... why can't I make it known?

If you made it well known, we'd come down on you like a tonne of bricks. If you kept it secret, I wouldn't be certain that we won't find out anyway via the Bag of Tricks that [violet] gives us.

I have more than one nation. Can they all join the UN?

No. You may only have one nation in the UN at any given time. To enforce this, UN member nations must supply an e-mail address.

What if I sneak them in using other e-mail addresses?

First up, don't. This is against the rules, and other people will be annoyed with you when they find out. It's a low, underhand thing to do. And the chances of getting caught are pretty high: the game uses four different methods to detect cheaters.

Nations that rort the UN in this way will be expelled and prevented from re-joining. If you do it with multiple nations, they'll all be deleted, including your main nation. If you're especially annoying, you'll be banned from making any new nations, too. But don't make me do that.(no emphasis added)

The "one nation per computer" is a guideline for multiple players who share a single computer, not for people who have access to more than one computer.

If you kept it secret, I wouldn't be certain that we won't find out anyway via the Bag of Tricks that [violet] gives us.Obviously you're not going to give an answer to this as if cheaters knew, they'd be able to exploit a crack in your evidence gathering tricks, but how can you draw a line between two computers which are at different addresses, have different Internet service providers, aren't LAN linked, don't have the same e-mail, aren't the same computer and have never been within 50 feet of each other, how can you find a connection between them without the possibility existing of getting two computers which don't have any connection at all. I mean, if you could do that, then you could find absolutely anyone on NationStates to be a multi of any other player.

I have no interest in breaking the rules, and I'm not going to do this secretly if I can't do it publicly, but you don't need to threaten me to get me not to.

"We have our ways" would be the standard responce.

Also, there are methods that delve into the realm of investigation. If it was all computer code, the game would do it itself.

I think the best bottom line that can be given would be Hack's statement. Some of the Mods (not me) are able to do terrifying things with computers and I am certain that this would be a walk in the park.
