Whoever gave me my original creation date back, thank you!

Eeeee happy. XD

:x

Me mad! Me want original creation date (March 16 2003) back, too. Me once told it was impossible. Me now knows it is possible.

How do you find out your original creation date?
06-03-2004, 19:51
I am a nation that signed up in NationStates on March 16, 2003. My nation got deleted due to inactivity. My creation date was reset when I returned. I was told it was impossible to get March 16, 2003 back as my creation date. I know know it is possible.

Me once told it was impossible.

...for Moderators. A Forum Admin (either Max Barry, [violet], or [reploidproductions]) has to go around tinkering with the root-level forum data (or some such technoarcane thing).

"Kitsylvania" was created within the first two weeks of the public release of NationStates, back when there were only a few hundred nations, total. Additionally, "Kitsylvania" distinguished himself in the NationStates community. An Admin apparently decided that this was a special enough individual that the time could be taken to readjust his creation date.

Now, I can't directly speak for the Administrators, here, but the Admins probably do not have the time to correct the Founding dates of every nation that's resurrected.

Just like appointing Founders for regions, readjusting creation dates is done only under what are judged to be exceptional circumstances. The only difference is that appointing Founders is a Game Mod ability, and thus subject to the discretion of the Game Mods, and readjusting creation dates is a Forum Admin ability, and subject to the discretion of the Forum Admins.

So, please, don't throw a temper tantrum.

"Think about it for a moment."

Actually, Cog, it's a game admin thing- after Nanakaland mentioned his creation date, I checked the forum admin panel to see if I was able to change the dates on a user, and I can't. So either it's some wacky technomagic that is way beyond me, or it's a Max or [violet] only deal =p

So did Nanakaland. Along with Myrth, Goobergunchia, Naleth, and The Basenji, he seems at least to me to be one of the most the most omnipresent and helpful players in NS.

Oh, and it is possible to edit the creation date on a PHPBB forum by manually editing the field in the database. You need something like PHPMyAdmin to do that though. Max probably already has something like that set up.
It's fairly quick and easy to do.

The only way Rep could do it would be to download the database backup, search through the several hundred million fields that exist in the text file, edit the entry for Kitsylvania's Founding date, and restore the database.

Assuming Rep has a 512kb broadband line, that would take about.... 3 days

If you want to make a case of it to try to convince Max or [violet], then I'm not going to dispute you; I'm only guessing at the reasoning of the Game Admins, here (and here, I'm guessing that it's the combination of helpfulness and November 2002 Founding). Just be aware that it has to be Max or [violet] that approves the request and that Max's time and [violet]'s time are both limited.

I thought that IP-banned players couldn't evenlook at the forums. :?

And actually, I read a thread in Tech before the [explitive removed] Great Purge which pruned Nuts & Bolts which implied that their emnity was just acting.

No, actually I'm reffering to his posts in Technical.

As I very rarely RP (in fact I've been involved in three Martian, one Venusian, and one Local RP in my over eight months here thats a mere five not counting little embassy exchanges), these sticky lists don't matter. It's and Nanakaland's minor, but frequntly Tech forum posts that I think of when I think of these two helping people. Just as Kitts used to do a long time ago before I joined.

Regardless.

The reason I forwarded Kits' request to [violet] was for exactly the reason mentioned by Cogs, namely because Kits was a 2002 nation, dating back to almost the start of the game.

As far as I know, only two other nations had their founding date reset. One was Marathon (a 2002) nation after his (first) deletion, the other was Darkskye, also a 2002 nation.

See a pattern here?

Darkskye's back? I heard he was a great RPer. He even posted in the first thread I ever made on NationStates (with a sarcastic reply).

March is still pretty old.
Marathon used it as the cut-off for all nations that he hated.

I think that Darksye has left again Nan.
When I heard Hack first mention that he was back, I immediately did a search, and couldn't find him.

And also, Hack, shouldn't Last Hope, the oldest surviving but accidently deleted nation have their founding date reset as well if we are using age?

Nanakaland,

One alternative that Cogitation didn't mention that would have silenced you is that since Kitsylvania was founded at such an early date, it is important that his real creation date be reinstated not because he has made a big impact on the community, which, yet he has, but to preserve original players, to show that people have stuck with this game and its community for such a long time.

That's my view.

If you want to complain further, as Cogitation said, the moderators can't do a single thing about it, so email administration: admin@nationstates.net

It seems that you started conversation on it, so I commented. Don't get agro at me just because I posted an opinion. You, sir, would be the one that hijacked in the first place if you want to get nasty about it.
