I know some free forums have an option in the admin panel allowing the admin to automatically correct

a) Shouting (use of capitals) in thread titles

and

b) Excessive Exclamations !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does this forum have such an option, or since its been hacked to peices anyway, would it be easy to add?

I only ask since its pretty annoying.

I don't believe phpBB 2.0.4 has that functionality.

Maybe it can be a rule violation to do either of those things in the titles... hmm... just an idea.

I dont know if that would work, the forum mods tend to busy with all the other stuff, and new nations would still do it since they never seem to know what is allowed and what is not.

Please don't ban it. However annoying it may be.

1) The mods have better things to do.
2) This may sound somewhat strange, but it is a selection criterium. I like to deal with people who are somewhat intelligent. There are too many treads to read anyways, so I tend to focus on those that have a good title.

For example, I am extremely unlikely to even consider reading:
"PIDDLY POOH IS ATAKING MEE! NEED ALIENCE!"

Yet one stands a much better chance with:
"As thunder roars - damzel in distress [open]"

...to convey the same message.

I never thought of that. I guess it is a little more prevalent in II and NS than Gameplay.

edit: Oh and why the move to Moderation (which I just noticed) I thought this would be a technical issue, or a petition for a technical thing to be done.

I moved to moderation, because though I do think it is possible, the decision to implement would fall under moderation. It's really a judgement call, but I felt that it would get more of the deserved attention here.

I would agree with Knotoss here. With the amount of n00bs, we need a method of differentiating them.
