Using Gameplay as a Regional Happenings replacement

The folks from Clear Lake have posted this topic
http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=122852

and their regional board tells everyone to post there for the sake of space. I don't care to teach them how to set up their own regional boards, but perhaps someone here would like that task. In the meantime, is this an acceptable use of the Gameplay forum?

Gosh, I hope not, the server's clogged up as it is. We don't need nations creating regional happenings/forums on here; they should form them elsewhere.

Ahem. *clears throat*

Gameplay
Talk about nation management, regional politics, and why llamas are a cooler national animal than squirrels.

It's nothing. The Gameplay forum was meant for aspects relating to gameplay, which includes regions and regional politics/happenings (I believe).

However, abuse of that right would be trespassing on the expected responsible use of that forum. I didn't read the entire topic, but I can see all they mean to do is keep their regional board clear of clutter to make room for important announcements.

Which is what I see here. They've effectively set up a permanent chatroom for conversation between friends. They're not discussing regional politics or inviting others to visit their region - they just didn't like it that they had only 10 slots for messages before they scrolled out of site.

There are ample ways to have private space that don't involve using NS public forums as a private playground. I just don't like the precedent this sets.

Precedent? Errrr...isn't this essentially the point of having NS forums? I don't see what's so wrong about it, maybe move it over to another forum <cough> General <cough> if yall are so worried that it's just a chat thread...but other than that. <shrugs>

I think they can have a regional discussion thread in the Gameplay Forum. However, they are still bound by all the applicable rules.
