MOD ALERT: check this out please

19-01-2004, 00:08
I've started a topic in general about John Rhys Davies from Lord of the Rings. Spherical Objects is trying to ruin the thread by posting huge chunks of off-topic text. He does the same thing in pretty much every thread I start nowadays. Could a Mod please do something about this? Thanks in advance.

They're hardly off-topic, at least in my (a reader's) eyes; they're badly (read: not at all) formatted and difficult to read, but I've been able to draw connections between the story and the "off-topic" material- when I'm able to work my way through the formatting.

A mod warning to clean up the text or link would seem appropriate, to me, in this case, for the benefit of everyone in the threads. That said, I, for one, appreciate the alternative news stories Spherical Objects posts to counterbalance the points in the OP.

Thank you for that, and I agree, I should (and will) take a bit more care with the formatting.

Sigh.

Okay, look you two.

People generally prefer it when you post original ideas to the boards, or (at the very least) refrain from numerous cut-n-paste posts. If you want to debate what Davies did or didn't say, try copying what he said and then add your personal view points.

When cruising the forums, and finding a topic by someone who's political views are diametrically opposed to your own, try a logical, point by point rebuttal. Or, in the case of someone simply posting what an actor said, state your personal views on it. Responding to a cut-n-paste article with a cut-n-paste is childish. Of course, and even better course of action would be to not respond at all.

See... if people didn't seek out an purposefully irritate people, most of these threads would sink, especially in General, which has a very high turn-over rate. Go back and look at that thread, both of you. Now, remove all of Spherical's cut-n-pastes, and then remove all posts that are related to said cut-n-pastes, and see how many posts would be removed. Now, think about how many other posts wouldn't be there because most people don't go down to page 3 or 4 to look for threads.

Also, we wouldn't have irritating threads like this one, that cause me to have to go and read the aforementioned cut-n-paste thread, top to bottom, and then write long-winded responces like this.

And, really, that just puts me in a bad mood.

So why don't you two just play nice, and stay the Hell away from each other? I don't want to have to start issuing warnings over something as minor as this...

Well cheer up and I'll be good.
