ATTN Mods: Just out of curiousity

Several months ago I (a long time resident) petitioned the moderators to install a founder in my home region of Oceania, as it was being attacked by invaders on what appeared to be a daily basis and it didn't seem fair to the residents. And I was told that requests of this nature could not be taken care of because of moderator policy. Invasions were legal and the only way to refound a region would be to kick everyone out and let the region cease to exist, and then start over.

Well, it has come to my attention that there is a founder in the region of Oceania now. Sources tell me that this nation did not come in and kick everyone out before starting fresh. Sources tell me this founding nation has only been a short time resident. Yet he was granted founder status.

So... my theory was proven to be true. You cannot publically petition the moderators to establish a founder. You have to go outside this forum and contact moderators individually. This game is not moderated with fairness in mind.

The region most likely died, and was then refounded by someone.
Fairly recently it would seem, as all the nations there have been active within the last day.

Interesting. It would seem to me that for it to have been re-founded, there would have had to of been a certain amount of griefing involved--seeing as how several of the nations were in vacation mode and inactive for 20 some days the last time I was around Oceania.

Certainly the only way a region can have a founder "appointed" (or maybe "created" is a better word, possibly "installed", but I digress...) these days is via the evacuation and re-creation of a particular region. Responses given, both via telegram and via this forum have indicated that this is a perfectly legitimate way for regions to acquire founders. The game is coded to make the creator of a region the founder, so that's what you're seeing here - rather than a mod-installed founder.
Unfortunately, what you seem to be describing here is the nasty equivalent of that, in which a griefer appears and ejects everyone from the region before re-founding it themselves. If griefing is involved in this action, it becomes illegal and you should attempt to get a mod or two involved in it. Given that we're talking about the apparently successful re-founding of a region, it could be rather murky and difficult to solve.
The bottom line is that if your region is under threat of being griefed and you don't have a founder, you should attempt to re-found it yourself. Failing that, or in addition, contact a mod about the griefing and they will take steps. Don't just say "we need a founder", because you won't get one. Say "we are being griefed", and you'l get results.

I have had a vested interest in Oceania for quite a while. I also had a friend who was living in the region. When I checked up on Oceania a week ago, there were still at least five original members left, including a few who didn't believe it necessary to relocate while Oceania went through the process of being refounded during the crisis. Some were still active.

The more I look at the situation, the more it doesn't make sense. There could have been a griefing in region save for one fact... Disposed Sailors was one of the longtime residents. If my memory serves me, this nation had chose to remain somewhat inactive for periods of time.

I believe this was a moderator-installed foundership.

I had a puppet in Oceania, and it was kicked out of there overnight. Next thing I knew the region was recreated with a Founder. I don't have any knowledge of who griefed the region, but do know that the current Founder denies having done this (in TM to my puppet).

Considering this murky situation, I've decided to not have my puppet return to Oceania for as long as a, to me, unknown Founder is in position.

I just received a telegram from my friend who was in Oceania and he said the same thing... he was ejected and when he went back, the region was refounded. Sounds like a textbook case of griefing that got overlooked.
