Non-Mod responses in Moderation
This isn't the same old thread about whether it should be allowed or not- as I've stated before, I don't think it should be limited, because a lot of questions don't require a mod response. However, I came across this (http://www.phpbbhacks.com/viewhack.php?id=2050) hack, that I thought the mods/admin might be interested in if this is being considered (and Neutered Sputniks' repeated responses seem to indicate that at least one mod would like to see this)

Interesting. What I'd like to see is a hack applied where topic posters are essentially granted moderator powers over any topic they create.

Mods like that are forum-wide. There are a lot of threads in Moderation that don't actually need a moderator response.
I know, and pointed this out in my post- because a lot of questions don't require a mod response. I was simply saying that this was a way it could be done if the management so chose to do so, because a lot of the objections have been along the lines of 'but the original poster couldn't respond'

Yes, but it does not deal with the arguements that:
About half of the threads in moderation require a mod reply
Some actually look for player input
You'd have to start a new thread if everal people were reporting on a specific type of abuse (there are half a dozen of us reguarly reporting on RP in Gameplay for example
You have threads like this which should be in Technical and *need* player input, else you'd miss out on certain arguements
Moderation threads are funny, that hack would prevent us form even reading them.
Very often mods do not solve something until several layers give input
Edit: List Fixed, or so I thought. . .

It sounds like a decent idea, especially when people request a mod-only response and others throw their two cents in. I think it's worth a discussion.

It would apply to the whole forum.
And very often I see somrething like "Mods how do I post Images tell me MODS!!!"
or "I wasn't a UN multi, I swear"

That's true, I didn't take that into account. Thanks for pointing it out. Yeah, I suppose it really is picking and choosing when forum users should and should not respond to a mods-only response request.

Ok, Qaal, we could move the first one to Tech (because that's where it belongs) and NO ONE but a Mod should really ever respond to those "I Was NOT a multi" threads because, well, it's the same reason that we dont let people post accusations of multying with the accused named in the thread - no one but the Game Mods could even have any hard proof of multying.

Oh.
It had seemed like your answers to those threads are always the same though.
Basically what it says on the sticky, and that if you want to appeal it, thrn\\en send your appeal to admin@nationstates.net
I'll remember that though.
