My friend has been hacked!

My friend josifovich has been hacked into. No, I have no solid proof of this yet, but he would NEVER leave Liechtenstein because we worked so hard to build it up. He would NEVER change his custom nation title to what it is now, and he isnt responding to my telegrams.

Please sieze the nation. I can contact J-vich through AIM, and his pet nation Son of Josifovich. Please help.

Due to the nature of how this game keeps passwords, it is very, very, very hard to steal nation passwords. Not even Admin can do it.

Maybe the password was easy, and someone guessed it? Or maybe someone got his password through another way.

But I doubt your friend was hacked.

Isn't that nation the largest in pop.

Perhaps it would be best for him to get help through moderation himself. While he may be your friend, I am assuming he has not contacted the moderators or posted here himself, and the hands' of the mods may be tied until he does so.

Though I could be wrong.

As an interim measure until a more technical effort can be mounted to see if Josifovich has been hacked/stolen, can I suggest the following:

TROUSRS, contact the owner via whatever means you can outside the game. It may just be that he's trying something different, although from what you've said it seems unlikely. Above all, try to work out if he's still in control.

What we can do - to the best of my knowledge - would be to compare an old Email address with any Email address that might be used for that nation now. That is to say, when the player in question signed up he may have provided an Email address which may now have been changed if he's been "hijacked" in this manner.
It mightn't do much more than provide proof that something is rotten in the state of Denmark (or Josifovich), but it's all I can think of off-hand.

Run a whois (http://www.geektools.com/whois.php) on the most recent IPs, and compare them with an older one. If Josifovic has suddenly jumped from the US to Europe, then you'll know something is wrong.

That's a wonderful idea, Myrth. I might have to claim ownership of it myself - but everyone would know that I'm so computer illiterate that I wouldn't have thought of it.

Don't worry. If ever I need to know anything about kangaroos or Koalas, I'll know just who to ask
Only joking... I don't share the Average American view of Australians
