Tagging a form of hijacking? (MODS ONLY!!!!!!)

I can speak from experience, and there is nothing more annoying than paticipating in a good RP only to have it filled with "Tag" every 2 or 3 posts. And I would like to know if tagging should be considered a form of hijacking. If a certain thread is appealing to a player, I don't see why they can't either save the URL to a notepad or type the author's name in the search menu to find it. Also, isn't there a function that allows you to watch a thread? (And how exactly does this work?)

Again, I'd like a MODS ONLY response please.

My personal (and unofficial) feeling is that tagging (in moderation) is acceptable. Especially with the removal of the search function. Also, many people access from different computers (and the watch the thread function doesn't work, we're discussing it in Tech right now).

However, if it bothers you, you can always make a comment saying so in your first post.

Interesting. Be sure to post updates on that.

Well, after seeing my "Mod wanna-be's" thread, I'm not so sure that will work.

At any rate, I'll leave this open for other mods to share their feelings.

Dude I totally agree about the stinking Tag Posts, I even had a argument a while back with a dude who posted tag in a thread where I was discussing something wiht someone, and the Mods only thing, you know A helpful persons will reply if they can, because they are trying to be helpful.
also, if only the mods were allowed to think then they would make our decisions for us, in threads and issues and everything, also, in case you didnt notice, in you last mods only post, by saying Mods only, you are just inviting folks to post, it is like a Ginormous sign saying Eat at Joes!

also, Happy Hippo Awareness day.

Well... as someone who occationally uses tags, I guess I might be a little biased.

Granted, I often try to do it by posting an IC post that has little to do with the main thread with an OOC note at the bottom. I can see how ceaseless tags can be annoying, but face it, certain players have a good number of people interested in their posts, and are going to get tags. Like I said in a recent note, it would be nice if people followed instructions, however (ie: "mods only" or "no tags").

Also, tags (and modalerts) in the Tech forum or the Moderation forum are about the stupidest things in the world, as far as I'm concerned.
