I'm not sure what caused it, but I've noticed that the GMs have stopped purging posts every time that a nation was deleted.
I'd been about to start a thread about it today, when I noticed that Fisz's posts had not been purged, and later on that Mr Monkey Eybrows had not had his posts purged either.
This makes makes the conversations with deleted nations involved much easier to follow, and I sincerely hope that this trend continues.

i know it means you don't have to wonder what some deleted guy wrote and ponder why everyone is talking to him and it just says -Post Deleted By The NationStates Moderators- get annoying :tantrum:

I assume that the grossly offensive ones will still get tossed, such as "you f-ing" whole string of other nasty words "idiot, why don't you" more nasty words, that sorta post wouldn't be welcome in just about any well run forum.

But purging non-offensive, and even comical spam spam, just seems pointless. It doesn't get rid of the posts, and in many cases just makes the post itself longer.

It's a handy way of quickly removing all posts by a user I suppose. Especially for things like *shudder* Goatse and tubgirl...

In the former, the spam was hilarious, in the latter, it was several pages of "BOO!". ANd they didn;t delte the thread, just replaces 3-6 letter posts (don't know how many "!"s it had) with the however-many letter "-post deleted by NationStates moderators-".

What's amazing is that before Beeks was deleted and his posts purged, no one ever seemed to notice when we didnt purge the deleted nations posts (99 times out of 100, posts arent purged).
