UN Ejection - HUH???

10-12-2003, 05:52
I was ejected from the UN today for some strange reason. They said I have created more than one nation in the UN??? I don't know WHY they think that ... nor do I know why I would DO that. I have a couple of friends who have logged in on my computer (which would mean they've all logged in on the same IP address) -- could that be why they have done this? This is the craziest and stupidest thing I have ever experienced! Anyone know why something like this would happen????

Yep that would be the reason for it i think.

]Q: My friends operate those other UN member nations. We all share the same computer.

A: I'm sorry if that's the case. There is no way for the game to tell how many people are on the other end of a computer. For this reason, breaches of UN rules involving only two members are usually punished with expulsion, not deletion.

However, please note this important point: we cannot take your word on how many people are really behind your computer. This is not because you are untrustworthy, it's simply that otherwise there is no way to enforce the UN rules.

Sorry about this.

Yeah it's pretty sad this website is a piece of sh*t and is run by apparently complete idiots - this is absolutely crazy!

That should'nt matter because my friends log in on my computer and I'm not ejected.

Not yet, but one day you may be.

What's so stupid is the fact that I have had about 4 friends log in on my computer. Only me and one other friend has been ejected ... so if it's the same IP address ... why aren't the others?? Yeah this is a free site, but, uh, someone is not very bright .......................

]Q: But that's not fair!

A: True, and again, I'm sorry if you and your friends have been punished unjustly. However, this is the closest we can come to fair. If we accepted people's explanations that they were using a public computer with their friends, we would have to let people create as many UN nations as they like. This would destroy the whole point of the UN.

The line has to be drawn somewhere, and thus, fair or not, the rule must stand.

That’s from this (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20102) topic. Sorry again.

I'm sorry that you don't like how this FREE game is being run.
10-12-2003, 06:19
Since I DID comment that it was FREE, I still expressed my displeasure that just because it is free doesn't mean it is run unfairly. It is NOT fair by any means to assume everything - first of all - so what? If I created 400 nations (which would result in 800 votes) then yeah ... but they've kicked me out of TWO??????? That's what is ridiculous and unfair.

As [Violet] said, it is unfair and she is sorry. But this happens, just forgive, forget, and move on.

And stop yelling. It won't get you anywhere.
10-12-2003, 06:28
Forgive? Why? No reason to.

I guess I should just create another nation join the UN (since it will be only one in the UN it's not wrong??) and only access it in the college computer lab for UN voting?

My thanks to Scolo for letting me unlock this.

That should'nt matter because my friends log in on my computer and I'm not ejected.

I just ran a scan on you: UN Multies detected.

I'm feeling generous today, so I'll make you a deal: Tell your friends to stop logging in from each other's computers. If I don't see any more cheat hits from you after today, I'll think about not ejecting you from the UN.

Keep in mind that I'm being very, very lenient in this case because you brought yourself to our attention. Normally, all UN multies are ejected upon detection (which would include you).

We always keep a human in the loop. This helps to protect the players because we are much better at differentiating between difficult cases than the code can.
