Deletions

Firstly, apologies if this post offends Rep Prod, or any other Mods, but I'd like to respond to points made in the 'Beeks' thread... which was unfortunately locked whilst there were still some valid points to be raised (IMHO).

Disclaimer - Please note I am NOT calling for 'Beeks' to be re-instated, nor am I suggesting any error on the part of the mods.

Deletions, IP bans, warnings, etc. are disciplinary actions taken against the player.
There is no "magic" cut off from one nation to the next.
Nations are inanimate bits of code on a server somewhere, trying to discipline them is like whipping the ocean because it pissed you off.
Furthermore, warnings, and past disciplinary actions stay on your NS record, permanently, as they apply to you the player, not the nation specifically.

In response to this, whilst I agree that blaming a puppet is a bit silly, I'd ask how it could be possible to IP ban a player because one of his puppets got out of line? Aside from the fact that you have IP addresses with multiple users (see Dani for one), what about public PC's?
I believe we have two kinds of deletions. The first is new nations, who's sole plan seems to be to come here, offend as many people as possible and spam the place up. No-one seems to mind their deletion (rightly!!) The second, is where an 'established' (note, not popular.. popularity shouldn't come into it) nation is warned and then deleted. In some cases, the deletion of a puppet (especially a cherished one) IS a sufficient punishment. So, should the deletion of said nation, grant a 'clean slate' for the player? That is for the site owner and admin to decide. I for one though, would be grateful for a clarification on this matter?

In relation to the 'Beeks' deletion, would it be possible for someone (anyone!!) to post a link to the page where 'Beeks' received a warning (assuming it was public)? That way, this thing can go away!

(please again note, I'm not querying the deletion, I'd just like to see where the Mods draw the line between posts and flaming posts.)

As I've (repeatedly) said... I'm not interested in commenting on whether I think a deletion was warranted or not, that's not really my business.

If you read through that link, you can see a warning WAS posted, which is all I'm requesting with regard to the 'Beeks' thing.

I will respond to a couple of points in general terms, however, this post will be the limit of my involvement here.

It is technically possible.

In some cases, the deletion of a puppet (especially a cherished one) IS a sufficient punishment. So, should the deletion of said nation, grant a 'clean slate' for the player?
Certainly not. Behind a group of nations lies a single player. If the player becomes a persistent problem, the player goes, the individual nations having become irrelevant. An IP ban becomes a reasonable measure to take against the player in question when action against individual nations does not result in a change in behaviour.
