Stupid Marriage DELETED - any particular reason?

30-11-2003, 10:02
Why the heck was my nation deleted?!

I'm not aware of doing anything to warrant it but my nation of Stupid Marriage has been deleted.

Could a mod please provide an explanation for this as soon as is possible,

Thanks a lot.

spamming I do believe
30-11-2003, 10:22
That is a joke, if that's why I was deleted then I have lost all respect for whichever mod was that pety.

I will await a mods response.

I have reviewed my last 24 hours posting, and the comment from phil.... something. I see now what the mod is referring to..i guess. in that i posted a thread that a mod didnt understand so he locked it, when i re-posted because i felt he just didn't understand i was deleted, never having infringed the rules before and being as posting a second time isn't even spamming in the context i did it as it was technically an altogether different thread. Therefore I do not feel this was a fair judgement and i feel a warning or perhaps just a locking would have been sufficient.

I mean christ... i spent 7 months nurturing that nation, building up its RP, then because i posted 2 similarly titled threads it got deleted...if there's a good reason i can't see then its fair enough and i will concede the decision was worthwhile....if not its just lame.

Could a mod comment....?

Bump... i require some explanation from the moderation team.

If i was you aid TG one.
You had a well good store front!!!
It was pretty good,
I think thats the mods should have an inquest, in the mean time that nation cannot post on any other threads other than the one of the inquest, deleting a 7month old nation would annoy me so much!!!
Deleting ought to be banned, stoping people from posting, maybe.
30-11-2003, 16:12
Any agrements?
My nation getting deleted would be annoying, and its not super old, SMSF, id use that nation now and just say what happened, also, deletings no good as people will just get a new puppet.

Thanks for your support, that storefront was indeed hours of work which i can now not retrieve.... well, I'm sure the mods had good reason to take such drastic action, i wait anxiously to hear this exciting tale.

I can't speak for the moderator who locked the topic (indeed, I'm not sure which mod it was or what topic we're talking about). However, I would guess the following:

If the topic was locked, then (unless it was locked for offenses by someone other than the topic author) that is an indication that you should not have posted the topic to begin with. Reposting such a topic is open defiance of a moderator and the forum rules and is probably why you were deleted.

Again, though, I haven't spoken to the mod who locked the topic, so I don't know for sure. Nevertheless, you should not repost a topic that was locked by a mod for being a bad topic.

If you object to a topic being locked, then ask about it here in "Moderation".

I do understand all that, even though it was a) a different thread b)only locked because the mod didn't understand it and infact it violated no rules.

What I do not understand is why when I have been playing NS for 7 months productively and rule abidingly, participating in much RP, never griefing, having a highly successful storefront why i had to be deleted straight-out without so much as even a warning.*

*I'm aware this is a privately owned site, and also that the mods are employed by the owner to police the site however they see fit and I have no rights here at all, and what was done was fair, but i reserve my right to at least whine about this unfair act.

My Regards
Tav

*edit* also I'd like to thank Cogitation for his reply, it was appreciated.

Since I don't know the specifics of this particular incident, I can't answer that. You'll have to wait for a reply from the Game Mod who deleted you.

I understand that you are unsure of the specifics, but just out of personal interest *sniggers* giving me the benefit of the doubt hypothetically speaking, and believing i never broke a single rule in 7 months then i posted 1 thread twice, would YOUR personal standard proceedure include a complete deletion?

hmmmmm, this plot continues to thicken.

I found the thread...at last,

it can be found here: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=98741

and then the mod was Tactical Grace, but this was all he said

"Stupid Marriage, when a Moderator locks a thread for spamming, reposting its entire content is most inadvisable. Please do not do it again.

Tactical Grace
Forum Moderator"

That DOESNT sound like he's intending to do anything other than warn me and lock the thread, and he's only a forum mod, so who deleted my nation? and why?

Let me pose a question:

If a Police Officer pulls you over and gives you a warning for not speeding, would you immediately return to speeding as soon as the officer has let you go?

No I would not good sir, but i see your point.

All I am asking is that whoever deleted my account explain to me the just reason (as i am sure there is one) why.

Oh, its a stupid forum-based game (using the term game very loosely) that some fool invented, and its just a post basically and its this long drawn out explanation about how once you have read this you are in THE GAME, and until you die you will go on playing the game, and whenever you think or talk about the game you are giving into it, living is playing, escape is death, blah blah blah.

Its really not important at all, it was merely a thread created as i was wondering if anyone else remembered it, and as i see, one person did.

So you dont think that the Police Officer would write you a ticket (i.e. stiffen the penalty) if you were warned (the locking of the first thread) and then returned to the activity that you were warned for?

Neut, if he has no prior offenses I think even you could agree that a deletion for creating the same topic after it was previously locked is too much. If the rules have been changed and are now that strict than I can think of more than a few people who need to be deleted.

Although, recently I noticed you are deleting for much much less.

Thats my point really.

All I want to know is who deleted me, and why, once I've heard from the horse's mouth the reason, i will gladly drop the matter entirely, until there comes such a time I will avowedly persist in my prying into the matter.

The problem with that is now you're likely to have a mod that did not do it confess to it just to get the matter dropped. No offense intended to the mods but you are very non-confrontational.

I would say that getting a ticket juxtoposed with getting the death penalty are two entirely different forms of punishment.

Reposting a locked spam thread complete with a Moderator observation at the bottom is an offence which might not necessarily merit immediate deletion. On this occasion, when steps were taken to send you a final warning by telegram, it transpired that you had past multiing offences.

Are there any further questions?

I think it might have been a little preemtive to delete you for posting a thread twice. However, since you have a history of multying, this was not your first offense.

Now, going off of what's happened in the past, pressing the matter further, after two mods have explained to you what you did, could be taken as harrassment of the mods, and it's likely to tick at least Neut off. (Ok, end of the comma splices). Also, given that I know of only one case in which a nation that was intentionally deleted by a mod was ressurrected, it's not likely thet you'll get your old nation back. So, I would suggest that you return to the game with your new nation, and not repeat your mistakes. Just my $0.02.

Multiing offences?! Do you care to provide any supporting evidence to that?! IN FACT, I was given that punishment for being a member of The Alliance Army and have never multied in my life, to be honest i feel let down... I didn't think the mods would be this lame over something...

As stupid as you may think the reasoning is, it is still a valid reason, and thus, the deletion stands. This thread is being locked because you all refuse to simply allow that you broke the rules and thus action was taken for it.
