Highly confused

We are talking on our board about american politics, but it seems Dick Cheney is censored. May I know why do you censor a vice president name? Is [Violet] for Al Gore? Why Al Gore is not censored? Really, censoring politics is very low.

Our board? Does that means it's not NationStates's board. If it's not, you are on the wrong place with your question :?

I discovered that you couldn't write "shit" either (as in "holy shit!") about a month ago. I had no idea at the time, that there were different levels of censorship for the regional message board and the fora. The question is why?

It's the same game isn't it? And does the banning of inappropriate language lead to bad spelt foul words (such as "fcuk") and the discovery of substitution words (like "Holy fecal matter!") or a 'cleaner' message board?

Vikings, I'm not too sure about the "it's the same game isn't it?" argument, since [violet] has explained to various of us (mods) at various times that the way the fora work is something that can't be changed as easily as the way the game works. As for why the fora and the game have different levels of censorship, it might relate to the fact that posts on the fora can be edited while posts anywhere else can't be. The same sort of thing happens when we say that we hold nation names to a higher standard than forum posts.

Aha, ok. I didn't knew about the editing of the regional message board part.

But I still don't understand the two different levels of censorship. I'm not really complaining about it either, it's just not very logical having two different standards within the same frame if not the same game, and it leads (sometimes  ) to confusion.

so what am i supposed to do with our former minister of intellegence? his name on the board is dickvandyke.

we tried calling him dvd. when i did that i got all kinds of odd questions from new members asking about what movie was talking about. do you know how labour consuming it is to type dickvandyke every time?

that's how i found out about the editing.
