I locked the thread (this means war) in which the vast majority of his posts were concentrated. He does not appear to be a spammer of the malicious sort. It is more of a case of an alleged n00b joining a n00bish thread and getting defensive when people started calling them n00bs. And the inevitable appearance of the practice of postwhoring by more experienced players in threads they know are going to be locked did not help matters. I would say that on this occasion, pretty much everyone involved in that matter was less than helpful. I would not have had to spend ten minutes dealing with this had a couple of people read the stickies and a load of people who should know better stayed out of it.

Wow, what a rant this turned out to be. Ah well.

Sometimes newbies go through a n00b period. Give them a chance. Leave them to do their thing. If they do it in your thread, then you can politely ask them to leave and complain if they refuse. But if they make a thread of their own, just provide a link in this forum and request a move from NS to II if necessary. A lot of players who should know better, go out of their way to post in their threads, repeatedly calling them n00bs or similar, instead of posting a couple of links to stickies and a helpful hint. N00b-baiting only makes things worse, and I will not look favourably upon it.

Didn't see the thread, but if people aren't going to leave the noob alone, perhaps attempting to help them instead. It can be really obnoxious to have someone who is compeltely clueless, but maybe they can be transforrmed into a long-term usefull player.

We were all a bit green around the gills when we started this game.
