NationStates Jolt Archive

Now that the Archive Forum has been created, this is here to stem the tide of multiple topics all requesting that various posts be moved to the archive thread. A few guidelines:

We would like it if only the thread author post the request. Should the author be deleted or inactive, then other people may request.

Please give a brief outline of what the thread is when you request.

Also, include a link to the thread. Ain't no way I'm gonna dig through thousands of posts to find some old history thread.

Note: The post below by Loop is a very good way to request archival.

Please don't ask for active threads to be archived. Remember, the forum is locked. No new posts or post edits will be able to be made once a thread is moved there.

Be sure you're really done with the thread. We don't want to be moving threads back and forth all day long.

Don't list every thread you've ever created. Some threads are gonna die, even if they're long. We don't want the archive to be too cluttered to be useful.

Threads will be reviewed by the Mods to see if they should be moved, so your request may be denied.

The Mods cannot ressurect threads, only [violet] can, so don't ask us.

Please understand that this may take some time. This isn't as high a priority as many other Mod activities, so it may take awhile.

Just to add to what Hack has said, while I'd like to think it'd be obvious, I've come to find that people can be quite oblivious at times. :lol:

Make sure to give us the LINK to the thread you're requesting be archived. We don't want to have to dig through 300 or more pages of threads to find one by title.

I don't know about the others, but I feel that Too Fight The Darkness should be put in the archives for easy access, and because of its ((mostly)) good rp.

Like most stories, sadly, it's sequel was worse. But that's for Arithon to decide whether to store it or not, as he started it off.

Also, the Amerigo Slave War should be moved in so that future generations could enjoy it, no? Resurect it!

This thread started with a warning: Someone/s was perhaps going to post sexual related images. It cought several nationstaters' attention (not only mods) waiting for the soon-to-be outlaws to arrive. As they didn't, one of the spectators pulled a stunt in the moderation forum despite that this thread probably was very frequently checked on...

Why should this be archived?

We get to see Neutered S. in action as the sheriff, who draws almost as quick as the "bad guy" posts, one of the fastest deletions around here I'd say. It's also a school book example of what you don't do and the consequence of the deed is very visible. It's also very funny. And locked.

Sooner or later the archive will be some pages (already 3) and that means of course that it will be more and more difficult to find anything in it. An archive without any order is more or less just as useful as no archive at all. Will some interested mod be appointed "archivarian" (with a huge slaray of course, or just a nice title)? For keeping it in alphabetic order or at least make an inventory list? Could be useful! :wink:

I feel that this thread is quite funny (but then again, I wrote it, so I don't count), and I would like to see it reserved as an example of how NS doesn't always have to be deadly serious, and also because I hope it would make some viewer laugh, or at least snicker, in the future.

I would like to request the old seti@home (not the new one, started recently by me), and the IRC chat channel threads be archived, as these are useful NS-related subjects (the set@home thread has details concerning an NS team).

A lot of the folks who supported the Archive idea were interested in archiving some of the SPORTS threads we have been enjoying. We have asked for several SPORTS threads to be archived. I've just paged through the archive, and didn't see a single SPORTS thread archived - but did see that a number of threads have been archived for which the request was received after - to keep everyone else from HACKING you off - mine.

Are we too unimportant? Don't count because we choose to RP sports instead of battles? If so, let us know and we can stop wasting our time asking.

Relax already. Part of the reason it was archived was because it had activity a week ago. Purges are threads that are inactive for 90 days, you've got plenty of time, so tone it down a bit.

Ok - so I was a little over the top...

My only concern, really, is whether or not sports threads are being considered. Your response tells me they are. With that, I can be patient (not my long suit, but...)

The reasons I asked for this one is the "rule" that an archive request come from the threads author. I agree there are many better/more-deserving-of-archiving sports threads, but I'm not the author/originator of them. This one, I am, and another World Cup participant (Spaam) suggested I ask it be archived.

Here are a few of the better sports threads from the "World Cup". All the threads for World Cups 1, 2 and 3 have meet with "deletion". And World Cup 5 now seems to have joined them (someone made a recent entry to WC4, or it would be...missing...as well).

It's just I've seen some threads in there that are pretty new and haven't reached say 65 pages etc.

It is finished for me though. I haven't posted in it for ages.

The reasons I asked for this one is the "rule" that an archive request come from the threads author. I agree there are many better/more-deserving-of-archiving sports threads, but I'm not the author/originator of them. This one, I am, and another World Cup participant (Spaam) suggested I ask it be archived.

Relax already. Part of the reason it was archived was because it had activity a week ago. Purges are threads that are inactive for 90 days, you've got plenty of time, so tone it down a bit.

As for it's own merits, it is humerous, but of all the sports threads, that's the one you request?

The reason being, this thread is the complete history of the LETI region from about back in July, we felt that it was time to start a new thread. It was becomming difficult to keep track of everything that was going on.

Unlike some other regions, almost ALL of our RP was done in this one thread.

We are currently trying to do a Hard copy archive of the thread but I fear that with school and such that it will not be accomplished before the thread dies.

Noticing that threads on ameplay in NationStates dropped with nary a response, I asked if a Gamelay forum was possible.

At first I didn't have my hopes up, but after seeing the enthusiastic response with which it was greeted, I did, and a month later, due in no small part to the tireless efforts of Unfree Peple, Spoffin, Naleth, Goober, Ackbar, and a few others others we had the Gameplay forum. :D

Basically, it is as the title says, the thread where I announced that the DDR would be leaving the South Atlantic Treaty Organisation (New York left on the same day also.)

It isn't a monumental RP but it is important for historic purposes: in historic terms it is probably the single most important foreign policy decision I ever made in thousands of posts after joining SATO was one of my first acts a looooong time ago. It basically outlines the new role of Knootoss also, answers important questions and gives some openings for new relationships.

It is also a thread that is mostly In Charcacter and the questions are of a good level. (Not these hundreds of oneliner posts associated with some other "leaving alliance" threads.)

I would like to request that The Anarchist Thread (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71742) be archived, if you would be so kind. It filled up with 65 pages of debate and exposition about anarchism, and has some very fine examples of political debate in general. Plus, this game seems to attract a surprising number of anarchists, so it seems only fitting to preserve this thread for future viewing.

The GA, as it is commonly called, was (and still is) the largest Alliance in Space NS. Numbering over 70 members at its height (when the requested thread finished we were only at 50) the GA influenced almost every aspect of Space RP. Tradeing, war, diplomacy, exploration, all were effected by the GA.

A brief outline of what the thread is about:

A rescue attempt by a Xikuangese helicopter succeeds in saving just one passenger, a teenaged girl, from a burning Knootian 'disaster tours' boat, and is invited to land on the nearby Svea Rigan hospital ship where her injuries may be treated. However, the hospital ship is not all it appears to be, and the ill-fortuned girl and helicopter crew are in for some rather unpleasant surprises.

Svea Riga and I had a lot of fun on this one. We thank you for your consideration!

This is one of my better RP's (I would choose the Rukemian war or the Demon war RP, but both have been whiped off the face of NS)

It is basicly a small sequle to the origional Demon war, where a race of "demons" attacked our portion of the milky way. A coallition of allied nations forced them back.

This RP is, as I said, a sequle (of sorts). It takes place on what seems to be a deserted demon ship near Saturn. But....it's not compleatly empty, and something has survived.

Originally it was going to be a mass monster/ hunter hunting, but it turned into a 2 person rp with our characters. It's made for some excellent character development.
