Try the getting help page. I will provide a link as soon as I find it. The getting help page is used for requests with the game, the mod forum is used for requests on the forum.

Unfortunately, that is probably impossible. This has come up before, and the passwords are encrypted. The Game Mods cannot determine the passwords of nations. But you should wait and see what they have to say.

I would assume there is the ability for the mods/admin to reset a nation's password, like there is in phpbb2 forums.

Well, assuming the previous one is stored somewhere. I do not know about that.
Anyway, it seems like every couple of weeks I am saying to people specify a valid e-mail address! Really, those extra few seconds are well-spent.

There's an issue of proving ownership too...

I would imagine that can be done with IP checks.

Sometimes. Any Uni or AOL etc... connection will lack specificity. Even if one has a static IP, what if someone decides to take over a nation owned by a (former) friend who once used that persons connection to check on his/her nation? Basically, the mods would have to spend their valuable time to investigate the issue. And keep in mind all this could've been easily avoided if people were to simply enter their email address when creating their nations. I know I've got an E-mail address listed for every single one of my nations.
Anyway, we'll know more when/if a GM looks into this.

Ballotonia is correct, it is usually far from straightforward. AOL in particular is a damn nuisance.

Try looking in your browser's cookie file, the name and password might be listed there.
Passwords are only ever stored in encrypted form.

They can't find the password, but they can assian a new password to Zam Zam. At least this is what happened once when I lost a password to a puppet nation. A mod gave it a new password, and sent it to me via email. But unfortanlty, you don't have an email listed. Not sure if you will be able to get the nation back.

But obviously, if you had the e-mail entered for it, you wouldn't have needed to ask the mods for a password change

Actually, if you forget the e-mail address as well, you can't request the password. In such cases, a Game Mod can check the (unencrypted) e-mail address you specified and send the mod-changed password there. Thus, it is wise indeed to specify an active e-mail address in the Settings of all your nations, and note it down somewhere, ideally in whatever you use for an NS scrapbook.

Waitwaitwait....I've always heard that the GMs can't even change your password. Now everyone is saying they can?

They might need Admin help, I am not sure.

Sorry, you're SOL. Not even [violet] or [dredd] can redo passwords.

Let this be a lesson to all. Leave email addresses on your nations for loss of passwords.
