Free Radicals of Mu-Mu
06-11-2003, 15:37
There is a state, "Free-Radical of Mu-Mu" (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_nation/nation=free-radical_of_mu-mu) which has been recently created using my flag, motto, animal and currency, and has been visiting many regions causing confusion about why I should be visiting them. This seems in violation of the game rules, being a near-identical copy of an existing state and clearly designed to impersonate another player.

I request that the state in question be deleted or, if that is not to be, I would like a clear explanation of why not.

Nobody cares... A lot of people do this... I doubt the moderators will care...

I don't think so... Because people copied off of the nations of the Wandering Argonians and Kain Irencius...

It is against the rules.

Any idea who they could be?

Maybe it's a mod! Please, mods, don't do anything! I don't mean it!

Really, the mods would delete it, or change its name, I'm very sure.

According to the FAQ:

Can I steal another player's nation?
No. This is fraudulent behavior and breaches the site's terms & conditions. The same applies to any attempt to impersonate another player, including attempting to hack nation or region passwords.

So it seems the mods would care about this...

I'd attest to this behavior.

We certainly do care.

Please submit a detailed Getting Help report outlining its activities. If it is indeed causing confusion or attempting to defame you, a deletion would not be out of the question.

A brand new invading tactic. Invaders copying defender's names?

Well, if anyone actually did use someone's name and reputation, combined with UN status, for invasions, that would probably be considered out of order, were there to be a complaint.

There is reason for concern. I know Free Radicals of Mu-Mu as a defender, who supported us many times, and since "Free-Radical of Mu-Mu departed this region for Empire of power", I don't need math to know what's going on

TG - I did submit a mod report a few days ago, but I know you guys are busy so I thought I'd flag it here and see if others had comments - it seems they do. I don't know who is running the clone, but it is almost certainly a crasher who is trying to get back at me for one of my contributions to regional defence somewhere, or possibly one of the goons who recently tried unsuccessfully to invade my home region Alliance of Socialist States.

I didn't think they actually had to behave badly for this to be against the rules - the FAQ on impersonation seems fairly clear. But if you need an example I was ejected from the LUE region (there on defensive business) shortly after the clone dropped in and posted some inane threat on the regional forum.

They've copied you completely and have intentionally stomped on the rules. However, I'm sure their puppet master has many more copies up their sleeves.

Surely a deletion

Bump.

Could a game mod comment on this please?

Another bump - I really want to know what the mods think of this. Is it within the rules or not? If not, what action should be taken.

Btw I changed my flag as a result of this - I like the new one, but was pretty attached to the old one

The fake Mu-Mu just posted a message in The USSR, attempting to imitate the real Mu-Mu but failing on spelling as well as politics

As a legitimate and declared puppet of Mu-Mu 8) , I have an interest in this eejit being put in his/her box... I suspect the fake is the creation of Socializt Autarky. If nothing else, could a Mod confirm that so others can be warned?

Impersonating a player in the manner described in this thread is against the rules. The imposter has been dealt with.

I thank Your Modship for both the clarification of the rules and for your most decisive action.
