Invasion of Regional Message board.

30-10-2003, 05:09
I am asking for Moderator Help. There is a Nation who is jumping into a region and posting a message that has no place there. The following is a copy of the message that has been posted:

1 day ago The Dominion of Freemon Hello from the great region of the CommonWealth of Solaris,

As you may or may not know, the NationStates are in great termoil over the dictator Francos Spain and his iron fisted tactics in The Pacific. Many have said enough is enough, it is time to crush the tyrant and return The Pacific to its natives.

It won't be easy the delegate in question has many endorsements so a very large army is needed to unseat him.

To this end I am asking that one or more of your nations be donated for this noble cause. These nations must be a UN member. Leaders of this region and the nations sent should contact myself or Super BadAss States to find out what to do. For this service you will forever have your regions name in the hollowed halls of the region "Citadel of Honor" and my personal thanks.

Thank you for your time
Freemon
Prime Minister of the CommonWealth of Solaris
Overseer of the Citadal of Honor

The Dominon of Freemon needs to be informed that this is not a proper action to take. My region is Christian Based and some of my members are offended by the nature of the name of his/her co-conspirator in this action. Would you please take some action to aleviate this problem.
The Region is not a private one and does not wish to become one. I will remove anyone who wishes to come to our Region with the desire to cause ill feelings or offend the other members, but I do wish to keep it open to any who wish to come and harmoniously exsist.
Thank you for your time.
Pops.

I believe that it is technically legal to post recruiting messages on regional boards, but would agree that it is annoying and that Super BadAss States qualifies as an offensive name.

Let's see what a mod says.

I think it's legal. you can always Passlock the region to keep them out. Think of them as pop-ups on the web.

Most Francos Spain critics do not. And we have no obligation to.

Actually, this could qualify as spam. Word of mouth is far different from unsolicited advertising.

-Drakma- Could you tell me how to do this. I have been on the game for a while but don't know this part. I am just barely computer literate so please make it easy.

If you are the Founder or Delegate of a region who has access to regional control, you can access regional control from the region page. Check the box to require a password to enter the region and enter a password. Make sure you update before exiting regional control. Make sure to share the password with all current natives or it can be considered griefing.

It is a Christian based area and I feel it should be open. I know how to deal with someone who comes into the region just to make trouble or argue all the time. This is a unique situation I guess. If I leave it open I have to put up with uncooth passersby and if I password it I limit my fellow Christian players from joining without unneccessary trouble.

Popsland, I am sure no disrespect was intended. Perhaps a simple message in your World Factbook would help discourage these posts. (Unlikely, but possible) I happen to know that those fighting to liberate the Pacific have no intention to create an offensive atmosphere in any region. I am sure these attempts are just trying to consolidate the nations who wish to support the process of liberating the Pacific. Telegram Freemon with your concerns and although I can not speak for him, I would guess this type of message will not occur from him again.

How can a founder grief his/her own region? A founder may eject, password, change the factbook and spam in his/her own region as much as he/she likes. Lol, if a founder want, he/she may destroy her region on the spot :P A founder does not have to tell the password of his/her own region, to the native or whoever.
A founder is some sort of a mini-mod in his/her own region.

Btw. Popsland is the founder

Nah, a Founder is more like a mini-Admin. The Delegate is the mini-Mod.
:)
After all, the Delegate has most of the same powers, but a Founder can overrule him and undo all his actions.

Pedantic, I know. Never mind.

Woooowa!! I can't beleive he posted this.

Sorry dude I was only asking for help.

Neut I did not mean this as SPAM. I had stopped asking for assistance on regional boards yesterday.

To the person who started the thread, all you had to do is TG me and tell me not to do that, or just say no. I would have been more than happy to not even come to your region.

Invasion of the Regional boards :?:
I don't recall anything in the rules that say a nation can not go to a region not his own.
SPAM thing...maybe so, I quit that.
*Snicker should I show you what a invasion is like*
mmmmmmmm
No I think your not worth it.

*LOCK the thread please...I won't post in his little region/or TG him anymore. I wouldn't want to hurt his feelings or anything  *

The delegate isn't a mini-mod UNLESS the founder chooses to give them those powers. And many founders don't.

In that Freemon TMed me and I to him, I definitely am not asking for the deletion of his nor anyone else, all I wanted was to let them know that, even though this is within the rules of the game, to enter someones region, without first checking what the region is about, is not a proper way to conduct yourself. If he would have just TMed me, directly, with this request, he would probably gained support to his efforts. It is up to the Delegate himself to bring an issue like this up to his region, if he sees fit.
I would further like to state that I invited Freemon to return to my region at any time that he would wish to discuss Faith issues. As I invite all to come for the same purpose.

Personally, given that the message to which you refer was clearly posted without due consideration rather than malice, I think you should have first telegrammed the nation in question and explained what you have explained here, in the same polite manner. Only then lodged a complaint had the behaviour continued. In such cases where the affront was unintentional, I suggest that might be a wise policy.

In any case, I hope the matter is now peacefully resolved.

Yet you feel so offended by someone who just posted 1 message on your board, but you refuse to password your region. Expect to make more claims like that, because your refusal to password your region is not very smart. You can't expect the mods come at your rescue all the time, when someone posts a recruiting message?!
Especally after drawing so much attention as you do now. There are regions who have not had one visitor for months.
If you don't want negative attention in your region, you should have posted this complaint in the getting help section. Easy as that.
