I wonder if [violet] will let that one fly as satire. I would if I were admin, seeing as it isn't really so much Nazi-supporting as it is joking criticism of the OOC politics of NS.

Then again, the holocaust is no joking matter. I guess I can't decide, but then again my opinion never counted in the first place.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will pass this up the line so that a decision can be made.

<chuckle> I know this is a little off-topic, but it reminds me of something I did back in high school (about a million years ago). I was something of a punk, and had a denim vest that I had drawn a picture of Jesus Christ fingering the world with a logo that said 'Save Yourself'.

Several months went by while I wore this vest to school. Suddenly one day one of the vice principals actually focused on the picture and freaked out. (Very funny, since he ignored it every other time he'd seen it.) Suddenly I was about to be suspended if I wouldn't ditch the jacket.

My solution was the same - I pinned a circle with a bar through it over the offending finger, and the flabbergasted principals backed down. I don't think [violet] will react the same way though.

And as another interesting aside, when I graduated I won several scholarships which were presented during the ceremony. The person presenting them to me and shaking my hand with a grim-faced smile was that same Vice-Principal. As he shook my hand, he said under his breath: "I suppose you've got a finger on the back of your gown, too?"

 Well, I thought it was funny!

It's gone.Awww...! C'mon man, it was satire! Are you so stubborn that you can't accept a little criticism in the form of satire once in a while? I know Nazi stuff is illegal, and I personally hate all nazis on the boards, but c'mon, that was funny!

Less a matter of satire, more a matter of remaining consistent I suspect. No swastikas means exactly that, if there are any loopholes, then the ruling is pretty much null.

Precisely. If I had a Euro every time we were accused of inconsistency, I would be a happy man. This is a ruling very consistently enforced. No swastikas means no swastikas, regardless of any claims to satire.

Although I did not see the picture. I was wondering why the swastika was banned.

'In fact, the swastika, including the so-called left-handed version, is an ancient sun-wheel symbol used by peoples across the world, ranging from the American Indians to the Tibetans. They would hardly be likely to use the left-handed swastika if it was associated with evil. Similarly, the left-handed swastika appeared on the pre-war national symbols of Latvia and Finland, before there was any association with Nazism. The Isle of Man flag is also a variation on this theme. I suspect that the story about the left-handed swastika, like the allegation of Hitler's illegitimacy, was simply Allied wartime propaganda'

We are not completely ignorant of culture. We know that the four-armed swastika, reversed or not, was a non-racist symbol in several cultures. However, due to its associations, the game owner has decided that it should be banned. There is some collateral damage, yes, but too bad. I, and other Mods, have pointed this out more times than we can remember. It is banned.

I have just been doing some interesting reading about the history of this banned symbol. Its amazing. Almost every culture has used this symbol from the Ancient Egyptians to the Druids, to the Scouts (still in use) (I bet I can't put that picture up). Its all todo with the suns movement and the four seasons!!

The more I read the more I realise that the symbol, in its life of 1000s of years was only used as an 'evil' symbol in only 8 years during Hitlerism.

Before (and now with the scouts) it is being used as a symbol of the earth through the rotation of the sun in the sky. ie. good.

Okay, okay, I've changed my flag. Apparently what I have now is within the rules. That surprises me, because quite frankly, I think that a glorifying picture of Hitler himself is many times more offensive than a simple swastika. But hey, rules is rules, and I suppose I should exploit them to their fullest extent while I RP my crazy little fascist nation.

Anyway, for those of you who missed it, here (WARNING: objectionable photo! This link will lead you to a picture of a satirical swastika! It is not for the faint of heart, and if you are afraid of becoming offended, do not click it!) (http://www.angelfire.com/ak5/grosspreussen/grosspreussen.gif) is a copy of my old flag.

If I had an Euro, I'd be pissed off since the damn thing's about to lose all its value.
