Are ebaumsworld pictures flaming

21-10-2003, 23:12
are those stupid pictures that everyone has seen 1000 times before considered flaming?

especially the ones with words which would not make it past the profanity filter?

e.g.

Yes, I consider them spam.

Hm. I thought we had broken links to ebaums...

I consider them spam because they are unoriginal, Inflamitory, and show a complete and utter lack of creativity, all they show is that you can browse and link to a site who rips off other websites like Something Awful, worth1000 and Fark.

they even stole one of my photoshops once.

Not IMO. I see them as funny 'add-ons' to threads.

But they're funny.................in moderation of course, but funny nontheless.

And deletion a million.

Not that the policy is that strict, but if the spamming merits a warning, and it is ignored . . .

Normack here :-o

In my opinion any ebaumsworld picture or similar, not accompanied by a clever remark or anything origional by the author of the post is complete, utter and fully useless

That should be a concrete rule. I agree :)

But than again, will you please define "a clever remark"?

I think some of them are very amusing and can work well, when used sparingly.

They so rarley have remarks at all, why do you need to define anything? Any kind of remark would do. Even a  :P

For the record: That was NOT an Ebaumsworld picture.
It was from iLeet instead.

Ebaumsworld pictures are funny once. Then never again.

OK, how about similar pics from sites other than ebaums? For instance ileet http://ileet.net/ or Bloody Taco http://www.bloodytaco.com/ ? Someone did an ileet pic above, I've done one before. But I won't do any if we get a definite ruling against such pics. I think they can be funny if used fairly imaginatively and *in moderation*, I agree they can be just flaming sometimes, and effectively spam if they are used too much or substitute for proper thought.

Actually what I'd like to do is photoshop my own to alter some of the messages: e.g. instead of "Congratulations On Your Gay Thread", how about "Congratulations On Your Thread, Which I Wish To Disparage, But Not In A Homophobic Way!" which would subvert the use of the word "gay" which I don't like.
