That's not really disagreement as such. I can still post as a player, it's not like I have taken an oath never to post in a debate. It was his call to make, we all respect the judgement of fellow Moderators.

Give Tactical Grace a break.
We really don't need to jump on the mods just because they don't walk in lockstep. It's not like TG started the thread or did any flaming.
TG was clearly willing to give posters a chance to discuss the topic like mature people, which was successful in many posts, and less successful in others.
Neutered Sputniks, a more experienced moderator, clearly decided not to take the chance that the thread wouldn't completely degenerate into a flame-war, and he had the right to make that decision.
Do we absolutely have to scrutinize every mod action/non-action under a microscope every single time they make a decision?

It's a good thing I don't put up with that kind of thing in my forum. When I'm acting as mod, I'm the evil god dictator, and there's not much anyone can do about it.
Fortunately, there's only 150 users or so and only 1/3 of them are frequently active, so I don't typically have to come down hard on anyone.
Y'all have my sympathies. But I tip my hat for your diligence to fair, unbiased moderating and your tolerance of your critics.
