Is the "lock thread" button stuck?

Ok, well seriously, I understand the desire to lock threads, especially when there are ten on the same issue. However, I think having more than one on the current UN resolution, in the UN forum no less, may be a good idea. But Cog just locked all but one, and the one he left was the least interesting. It is not as if the other threads were just taking up space- they all had a significant number of posts and were over a page long. It seems that we get "invalid session" a lot more on threads that go on for what seems to be an excessive number of pages. Also, people like to get together who have similar beliefs about the issue. Shouldn't there be an option to have a thread for people trying to drum up support, and one for those opposing an issue? I mean, the UN forum is SUPPOSED to be used for that purpose...

edit: had to delete my own unwarranted opinions...and to mention that the thread started by the NS-UN update, the off site opinion writing people, was left unlocked, and it was on the same topic. I don't understand the difference. I believe their thread may have been started after some of the ones that were locked.

I'll go take another look, but it appeared to me that there were three topics started with the intent of opposing the same resolution.

Okay, we have the following four topics started AGAINST the AIDS resolution:

A vote AGAINST "Global AIDS Initiative" (sadly) by Aegonia (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81092)
The Global AIDS Initiative by OIIO (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81339)
Vote AGAINST the AIDS Resolution by The Global Market (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81223)
There is no proof for the existance of the HI-virus by Be Reng A Rlehr (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81114)

Additionally, we have this topic that started off merely inquiring about the AIDS resolution (and not arguing FOR or AGAINST):
NS-UN Update and the AIDS resolution by Kisnesia (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=80917)

Given this distribution of topics, I am leaving open the topics started by Kisnesia and Aegonia.

Is this okay with everyone?

Sorry if I came out of nowhere, but I was posting in one of the ones that got locked, and the one left open didn't seem to be...."interesting?" I don't want to say the wrong thing about anyone. But thanks for watching out for the forum. I know I have complaied in the past about ten threads on one issue, but those were all made by newbies who had the same ideas, and were on proposals that had not made it to a general vote yet. Once again, I apologise if I came off as rude and I appreciate your dedication.

No problem. ;)

I'm trying my best, here. I was drawing the attention of the residents of my region to discussions about this resolution when I noticed that there were multiple topics.

I will try to keep open one topic FOR and one topic AGAINST a particular resolution (that's two topics, total, per resolution). If you see multiple topics on the same side, please bring it to our attention. Thank you. :)
