Please reconsider my UN Status / Modedit: Tech UN issue?

14-10-2003, 04:21
:!: Violet I cannot continue with the game if I'm not allowed to be a part of the UN. My son is playing from his school computer, I'm playing from my computer and my daughter is playing from her computer. We each have different IP addresses (although there is a chance that my daughter and I have the same IP address), we have different emails. I'm about to get kicked out of my region because they want all members to be UN members. This is not fare! Please can't you do something?

If you and your children are indeed playing from separate computers and have separate e-mail addresses, there should be no problem in all three of you joining the UN, provided you never log into your nations from each others' computers, as this would show up as a UN rule violation, resulting in expulsion from the UN.

I am moving this to the Technical Forum so that Salusa can give a more informed opinion.

TG, sorry, this one is directly related to moderation and the GMs actions. I'm punting it back (which is where I sent it in the first place). I'll lend tech help to them if necessary, but it is really their ball.

Ah, apologies, I didn't realise someone had already handled it. No worries.

Thread ping-pong :D

What has actually lead to this problem occuring? An error while trying to join the UN (what was the error?), or were you and someone else kicked out of the UN for Rule Violations (who was the other person, your son or daughter?). As soon as youve figured out where this went wrong, you know how to avoid this in the future. As far as re-joining the UN with your current nation (in the case you were kicked out), we'll have to wait for a Game Mod to look at this issue closely.

If you're using dial up, then you're probably ok. However, if you use broadband then chances are you'll register as a multi. Unless you have a pool of public IPs (v. unlikely), your system will be NATting you, which means that while you have different ip addresses internally, externally they will look the same. For example, the ip address on this computer is 192.168.0.3, but any ip scan (and the one the mods will see if they ip scan me) will give you 82.32.149.*** (truncated for security reasons)
