there are more creative ways to do this....

For RedSoviet...I don't want it anymore, and I don't want to give it to someone else. I've had a good run, but now it's time to move on.

Suicide is only suicide if you do it yourself :P
Otherwise it's called homocide :P

As I said in your goodbye thread in General, why not change your passwords to random strings? Otherwise, a Game Mod would have to take a break from the backlogged task list, etc. Somewhat inconvenient.

I copy/paste Japanese characters, of a random japanese site, to password my unwanted puppets. No way that I will ever be able to type it ever again 8)

*Rememberd that some day I want to be mod*

Ya, finda random number generator and cut and paste into the password screen, or just close your eyes and hit random keys.

one idea is to flame and spam the forums and regional boards untill a mod decides to deat you
Persuading someone to break the rules is an offence

Pretty Good Privacy

it's an encryption program approved for us in the US.

Why is everyone always so selfish? If you don't want to play anymore, just stop. Jeez  Its not that hard........ Plenty of ways to stop playing a game besides ruining it for everyone else. The basic principle involved is just walking away. If people keep trying to "suicide by mod", I think the mods should make a RETARD region and put all those nations into that region and change their passes. Make an example out of them, Look at these stupid nations. They tried to violate the rules and now they're stuck until they slowly wither away and die. No "going out with a bang", make a few examples and this grade-school level behavior will stop.

Yes, PGP = Pretty Good Privacy

It is a relatively high powered freeware (and commercial) encryption
system and is actually close to a standard. It can be used for both
encryption and digitally signing things. I use it so that my
communications can be encrypted (if need be), and so that I can sign
my messages which ensures that I'm the one who sent them.

Tactical Grace, you are correct, the key is much longer, however,
that is the key ID and can be used to fetch the actual key off of the
major key servers. The real key is:

Heres an Idea, why not enable the players to delete their nations if they so choose?
Not only would that cut down on the Alamo syndrome, and would assist in site admin.
Or is that just too far out?
13-10-2003, 20:50
Any player unable to just let it go, would never do that either. It's like television, they are just not able to switch it off.
Just leave the game, it gives you 28 days to reconsider your decision, on normal mode.

If that were the case he would not be asking the question.
Anyway its just common sense, not to allow someone to delete their own accounts or at least request the deletion of the account is ridiculous.

How do I delete my nation?
You can't. I decided it's better to have people upset because they can't start over with the same nation name than people upset because their nations got accidentally deleted.

If you don't log your nation in, it will be deleted automatically in 28 days.

No, but he is an experianced enough player to know the rules of NS and to also have read the FAQ which clearly outlines the rules regarding nation deletion and also the reasons for their not changing.

So your saying that the owners/administrators of this site will not under any circumstances, allow the player to either delete their nation or request it from the Admin Staff?
So your not bothered about nations floating about for 28 days, then?
My while point is that, it would simplify matters.
Sirocco
13-10-2003, 22:59
If a game mod was asked to delete a nation and he did so, soon enough EVERYONE would be asking for deletion of unwanted puppets and such which would be a real hassle. There's a tasklist for the GMs to keep up with and they can't waste time deleting unwanted nations.
Tactical Grace
13-10-2003, 23:03
I have said this before and I will say it again. The Game Moderators will not delete anyone who simply requests to be deleted. They do not have the time. If someone wants to leave but has problems with willpower, they should change their nation passwords to a random string. Their nations will be automatically deleted by the game after 28 days of inactivity. This is far simpler for all concerned.

Since this is now a circular argument, I am locking this thread.
