I have some respect for NS World vigilante outfits, but only competent ones which play by the rules. The intentions of these players may have been honourable, but they shot themselves in the foot by going too far. This is an excellent example of why such operations need to follow a minimum code of ethics. Otherwise, the distinction between the bad guys and the (relatively) good guys is eroded.

Heh :) You have an interesting sense of humor.

1- If the FBI, CIA, and EoP violated game rules by banning natives from their own region, the proper response is to ask a GM to rectify the problem. Actually, it's prefered if players could resolve the situation amongst one another. Serial griefers rarely listen to being quoted what the rules are, but in the interest of Full Disclosure I've actually had some success with that approach as well.

2- Even if your story is true, you still broke the rules. Other people braking the rules too does not mean you didn't.

3- Other people violating game rules does not grant you the right to do likewise. The most you can hope for is for Mods to decide to not intervene in the interest of gameplay (essentially looking the other way, it comes down to using good judgement in the interest of gameplay), but you can't seriously demand them to do that.

4- The spamming of the Regional Happenings and Civil HQ Board are rule violations even if your story is to be believed. The combination of doing this as well reduces the believability of your story, as well as how much it will apply to a possible decision to overlook your aforementioned violation of the rules.

5- Assuming your story is correct, there were alternatives to doing what you did that do not violate the rules. For instance you could've simply let the previous natives back in, and transfer control of the region back to them.

The problem with invading is, that you only need one griever to make the whole group look bad. You never know what other's do, if you team up with strangers. Invading can be very risky, if one of them doesn't care (or know) about the rules of conduct.

I am not sure, but maybe the mods have their priorities a bit mixed up, though I don't know what's on that tasklist, I can imagine that dealing with multying, cheating and griefing must have a high priority, and that spamming, flaming and proposing silly stuff in the UN must have a far lower priority, to the point where some issues stay on the bottom of the list all the time.

I've got an even better idea. Instead of trying to maintain the current moderator clique, get more moderators! There is no shortage of people wanting to be moderators. There is no shortage of fair minded people on this game. Why can't there be 30 moderators? We have the people to do it.

Not the point.
The point is that there is a huge pool of people willing and capable of doing the work. There is no noticeable impediment to having them do the work besides the unwillingness of the management to let them do it. Meanwhile there is a large pool of tasks that aren't getting done because there aren't enough people to do it.

We are griefing, flaming, flamebaiting, spamming, and harrassing the UN with silly proposals. Need I say more?! I think the majority of all the players here are adults, but it's hard to beliefe if I read the posts here in the moderator's forum :lol:

Hey now, not all of us are making the mod's jobs harder! I'm Secretary of Justice over in The South Pacific--believe me, the mod queue would be at least 200 requests longer if I wasn't working all the time to solve the problem from within the region instead of running to the mods.

Of course, I also agree that there could be a few more mods, since I know not all the regions can or are willing to police themselves--I can name 5 people off the top of my head who'd be good for it. (Not gonna name names--that tends to get me in trouble. :P )

There aren't many online games/forums out there that survive long without some sort of moderation, this one is no exception. The reality is that we need moderators, we just need more. We can't continue to wait a week for some sort of upper level control to be taken in a situation, the response needs to be faster.
Again, no reflection on the mods, they're doing the best job they can with the limited resources they have.

Whoa, I was replying to your post where you indicated that the mods have their priorities mixed up. I was indicating that they are not mixed up there's just not enough of them. Everytime I have posted something you've responded with a post trying to poke a hole in my argument. I'm not trying to thread hijack but if you're going to continually try to poke a hole in my argument I'm going to try and plug it up.
And yes, I know the mods don't have to respond here. They don't have to respond anywhere to anyones thread. I don't expect the mods to read this thread, if they do then more power to them. If not, that's ok too.

In the interest of not "thread hi-jacking" any further I will stop responding at this point. If you would like to continue discussing please open up a thread to the effect "do we need more moderators" or something. :)

The explaination as to why ZGeeks was griefed is not adequate. Del was inactive, not what you normally see in an invaded region. EoP nations were sitting there not doing anything. Pony boy and his buds griefed a region for npo reason. And even if they had a reason it is still griefing and they deserve the penalty of griefers.
As far as I am concerned crashers can crash other crashers as long as they want to. ZGeeks did not deserve the griefing/spamming that they received. There was an obvious path to the griefers. Why has nothing been done to them?

It seemed I had a log of zgeeks of BEFORE the griefing anyway.

On an aside - just because there are players that want to be Mods that you would consider fair-minded does not mean that the rest of the Mods consider them to be fair-minded, or what we are looking for in a Mod.

There are enough Mods, just a number of us dealing with real life issues that will be over soon enough. I know I've been extremely inactive as far as the tasklist is concerned, however, that will change quite shortly when some issues I am dealing with resolve themselves (in a few short weeks).
