is it possible to get something done about SeOOC?
that's my question: someone is using a name so close to mine i misread it as mine (wondering how this imposter got to use CAPS when i'd already taken my name), using my motto, my national animal and my currency, and is posting stupid messages clearly designed as a very easy spoof of me. now since i can't claim it as idenity theft i'd like to hear the rules on what is clearly an ooc insult or some other form of being a pain in the ass.

People may not impost as other players to grief, further it's allowed. As long as he doesn't do it to give you a bad name. If you have proofe that he is bugging you with it, post it in the little blue link in my signature. Not that you have much of a chance.

so if i created a nation called Menelmecar, used M's sig line, motto etc etc, and posted ridiculous, stupid and obscene comments, that would be fine?

If it was clearly defamatory, no, certainly not. I think you may have a legitimate complaint here. Reposting:

Impersonating a mod is against the rules. That minor misspelling would probably be interpreted as an attempt to impersonate a moderator.

do i smell a double standard? actually this statement makes no sense whatsoever, since M isn't supposed to use her 'i'm Sirithil' sig when she's a mod, therefore using that sig and not posting moderator style messages would clearly not be impersonating a mod. moreover, it's been emphasized again and again that mods still play too, so you can't argue that a mod is always a mod.
bottom line, are you going to tell me that it's okay to mock a civilian but not a mod?

If this other nation is in fact doing things to annoy you and grief you, they shall be dealt with if you report them through the proper channels. We allow no leaway for impersonation of moderators due to the risks involved to the community by anyone impersonating a moderator (just like impersonating a police officer is illegal).
Impersonation of a player can be damaging to a player, impersonation of a moderator can be damaging to the whole NS community and thus enjoys a higher priority.
