A "Real World" Project

I'm unsure whether this has been attempting or asked for or not, but I will request it according to my own designs

Basically I'd like to create a region that contains ONLY nations directly correlating to their respective nation in the real world, and the people would be trying to emulate their nation in social policies and whatnot. All this I could do simply, and just put upa password and recruit for weeks on end. But, I would ask something of the Moderators. If I could POSSIBLY, if the region is created and people come, have the moderators make the names, currencies, and populations of the nations in the region be and stay unchangeable to the real world nations. So naturally you'd have The United States of America but I believe that name has been reserved, and you'd have The Russian Federation (Rossiiskaya Federatsiya). The USA would ALWAYS have its 286 million people, India would have its 1.someodd billion, etc.

Also if I could have a stickied thread asking for people to join, that would be great as well. I guess people would simply create a nation of any name using the same email address as the nation they used to post their intent to join as one of the available nations, and once they have been given password to the region a moderator could change their name to the real world counterpart.

I will create a nation called the sometihng something of God, and I'd love it if a moderator could simply take off the something something to leave only God as the Founder. I'd love ot participate as an actual nation as well.

if it is even vaguely possible to try this, could a moderator contact me by the following.

My magic 8 ball says, "No".

My crystal ball concurs.

Basically, what you're asking would require some serious programming effort. As there's already a lot of programming jobs in the queue, your only hope would be for [violet] to read your idea and be wildly enthusiastic about it and willing to spend all the time and effort to make it happen. I highly doubt that'll occur.

As an alternative, couldn't you just RP some of it? I mean, why the stringent requirements on getting the nation names exactly correct? Why would the listed population totals matter?

Yes,I don't think the mods can currently freeze populations or change names, you could have the nations join with similar names to the real nation if those names are reserved, and give them the password once they have the right currency and animal.

I know, I was just trying to make life easier for myself :), but never at the cost of other people not getting their own programming done. Hell, I don't really much care whether it happens at all! It was just a spur of the moment idea, and figured I might as well try. I'm full of those... it's the continuing on and persevering things that are hard... sigh...

Yup, always full of good ideas!

What happened to your plans to map your region for me to post from the Wysterian web site?

Most, if not all, real-world nation names are already taken; Most are dead, although some still remain (the region of Africa has a modest number of them). So, names like America would be unusable.

I have Kurdestan in a region filled with my puppets (Kurdestan is the only nation in Anatolia who is not my puppet the las time that I checked).

Equus...... shut up! Don't remind me!

Kandarin and Other Guy- which is why I said that they would just create some bogus name, and with mod help would change the name to the real life counterpart. I'm sure The Federation of Russia is taken, but I doubt The Russian Federation even exists, which is the formal name of present day Russia.

Or you could just forget the first part completely, maybe put an R before the country names symbolizing REAL.

but like has been said and as I've agreed with, the mods already have tons of shite to do anyway.

Actually, game moderators do not have the power to change players' names. They do have the power to change players' titles, but with the exception of granting custom titles to themselves and the Forum Mods, they are forbidden to use that ability.

oooOOOOOhhh. ok. question solved.

There's one thing you can do about most of the real world nation names being taken. Observe.

-America-
-/America\-
_America_

etc.

Yah need aid from the GMs to maintain a steady pop, and give prefixes like "The Islamic Republic of" and "The People's Democratic Republic of" etc, and they will have to discuss it in the private moderator forum, if they consider it at all.

yep, that was my intention. but I guess the mods ARE indeed too busy. I don't blame them really.

meh? They have said several times that they are not allowed to change attributes on nations not belonging to them or the forum mods.

It means "what" or "whatever" depending.
