Lock the thread Do you hate the American people? in the general forum.

I know i made that thread, but it is about to turn into a flamewar, its not bad at the moment, but some anti-american idiots are starting to spread I hate all americans propaganda in there, I just can't deal with them in a civil manner.

Why can't they just lock all of the "Is America Evil?" threads. It seems like half of the threads in general are, and it is getting annoying.

Not that I discourage discussion, but if the mods locked them all and then said "Arguments on whether the US is Evil go here" it would remove some of the clutter.

But to avoid accusations of bias, any anti-French and anti-Europe threads should get the same treatment, the anti-Liberal ones too, since that appears to be synonymous with European these days. And look what happens, lots of work for the Mods and accusations of censorship. Perhaps the best way to deal with the problem would be not starting such threads in the first place?

Oh right I forgot about those.

I was considering suggesting the same thing for the Cuba thread, except that there was only one to start with.

If you see a direct flame come back with the link and we will assess the thread at that time.

Maybe a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted?

No, more a case of issuing a punishment after an infraction has taken place.

No, more a case of issuing a punishment after an infraction has taken place.

Most of the threads in General are infractions that simply have not happened yet.

Yes, I agree, as for your comment Hack, maybe letting that thread get to 5 pages, was like closing the stable door.

I usually don't watch those threads.

I just think that it seems like double standards to allow multiple threads on the same topic in general and not in Tech, when General is clogged to begin with.

Perhaps, but look at the ceaseless complaining that happens any time we crack down on General.
