When people say MOD ALERT in a post what does it do exactly? Is a mod supposed to look through all the posts and see if they can spot those words ore something?

Raem is correct.
Also remember: The word must be spelled as one word, "modalert", with no space in-between. I only do searches on "modalert", so "mod alert" will go undetected.
