Communique to the Provisional Headquarters of the Eastern Alliance

To Whom it May Concern,

After considerable discussion, the Imperial Koalition would like to form an exclusive economic pact with the current and future members of the Eastern Alliance. This Economic Pact would include a number of provisions.

Unconditional Civilian use of All Ports
Import Tariff no higher than 5% of sales value
Opportunity for foreign companies to establish themselves at no additional tax
Foreign Loan Rates half of market rates
Use of foreign banking at domestic rates
Non-Profit on transfer of foreign currencies

According to our sources, the alliance is young, as are its members. This agreement could offer a vast market of over seven billion consumers to the products of member nations - an unparalleled opportunity for growth.

We eagerly await your reply,
Director of Economic Progression,
Ulcer Honvorg

I agree with those terms except for these

Opportunity for foreign companies to establish themselves at no additional tax

Foreign Loan Rates half of market rates

I disagree at the Foreign companies establishing themselves as that would give Foreign companies more of a chance to establish themselves, than a Domestic country, so therefore, i think that the tax should be determined by the country themselves, with a minimum being the tax that all other companies have to pay

I Disagree with the foreign loans rates being at half as that is unfair to Domestic companies paying 50% more on their loans than a foreign company, this also gives more of a benefit to foreign companies as paying 50% less interest on a $1,000,000 at 7% interest is $70,000 at half rates, while it is $140,000 for any other company

Well, these things are supposed to attract foreign companies into our markets by reducing the costs for them to make business in our countries. Also, our companies get the same benefits when operating in Kroando, which when considering his size can only be a good thing.
Kroando

[The foreign loan section is for loans from one government to another, not considering commercial banking.

Also the foreign companies is simply a measure to expand interdependency and free market growth. If you could tax my companies unfairly in your country, there is no room for growing trade.]

Thank you.

If I may make my opinion on the treaty with the Koalition, I do not think this complete opening of our economies to a foreign power is necessarily one we should jump into. Keep in mind that while foreign investment has many short-term advantages, it may cause problems in the future. Unfortunately, while being an old enough nation to not benefit from such investment, we are not large enough to provide similar benefits to our allies. Thank you.

[If I may interject, there is no reason to believe that simply because your nation is larger that it cannot benefit. Open economies means more consumers for domestic products. This treaty will give your domestic industries an additional 7 billion consumers to sell products to at a relative advantage to the rest of the world. Additionally, the benefits of free trade are not short term, but long term. What problems do you see from free trade from an economic standpoint?]

Kroando, I'm still willing to accept your offer, but as this applies to the whole alliance I think we should try to sort out the concens of all involved first.

[Bolded]I believe that we shouold be able to charge a little bit more than what domestic companies are charged so that domestic companies so that they will have have a chance to compete

I believe that the tax should be slightly higher to again allow domestic companies a chance to compete always
