"Look at them. Worlds spinning across the void without a care in the world. As if there were nothing that could harm them, nothing that sought to do so."

A cold, thin laugh.

"They are wrong, of course. Death is the cost of innocence, and there is far too much innocence. We seek only to redress the balance."

A window shimmers with a brief flash of light. Above sits a fleet. It is not large, at least not by any standard of numbers. There are only a few ships, and they are not particularly impressive, architecture-wise. This will not matter, though. It should not matter at all.

"You have picked a first target?"

"Of course. We are readied for departure."

A smile comes to the face of the man, and he looks at his hand, as though it were some unfathomable mystery.

"Good. Begin."

The hand falls to his side limply, and the ships begin to move. There are no flashing lights, no roars of mighty power. Merely a brief distortion of spacetime, and they are gone.

Tens of thousands of lightyears away, a star system sits. It has been studied. It has been infiltrated, by spies posing as tourists posing as madmen posing as spies, and enough is known. The defences are not sufficient for what is to come.

These are not ships, in the traditional sense of the word. They bend light wherever they go, and are smaller than most would imagine. They are horrifically dense, and are scarce visible when it comes to radiation; rather, the imprint they leave through gravity wherever they go is enough to make them impossible to hide.

Six have arrived. Two for each dimension. They surround the system, making any escape impossible. Within a few seconds, they have produced an inhibition field equal to that of the planets, draining energy at an almost ridiculous rate to do so. Any ships attemtping to pass the edge of the inhibition field will face destruction, as smaller automated drones blanket the edges of the field, ensuring the security of the system.

This is my desire. I will speak to your leader. We shall negotiate. Now.
