DRNN Press Report
King Wallace to visit Gatawan territory, Appoint Viceroy.

Rumors that have been circling for weeks have now been confirmed.

King Harold Wallace III, will in fact be making a visit to the territory of Gataway, which is currently a protectorate of the Reich and is internally governed and is mostly independent a fact that rumors suggest will soon be changing.

Sources report from inside the Reich Ministry that the King's visit will be to appoint an unnamed Viceroy as well as instate new laws of the Reich and thus make the territory of Gataway official sovereign territory of the Reich.

Current speculation is that Grand Marshall Gerald Von Brum will receive the title of Viceroy following his masterful rebuilding and restructuring of the southern territories following the Janja rebellion.

Marshall Von Brum was a High Marshall during the war of unification and received his promotion to Grand Marshall after the battle of Hurloc. Where he personally ordered and assisted in the execution of all thirty thousand enemy prisoners of war. He has since served on the War Council and held post as commander of the Reich's army for five years before returning to field duties as commander of the 1st Army and currently heads the 3rd Army, units of the 3rd army are the second most decorated army and have more valorous awards by almost a 3:1 ratio of any other army amongst the six standing armies currently active .

When questioned as to whether or not he was aware of any such appointment the Grand Marshall refused comment, it has been confirmed however that Von Brum will be in attendance with King Wallace during his visit.

Von Brum is more recently known for his ruthless tactics in as in his order for the razing of seven Janja villages during the rebellion slaughtering all inhabitants regardless of age or sex, a move that brought him both international and internal criticism. At the same time Brum is known for his brilliant economic and political skills.

Tartar Palace, North Unkerlantum

Wallace stood calmly looking out across the large Gurlo lake which sat just east of his lofty summer home. Thoughts of growing up, fishing with his father and uncle caused a slight smile to spread across his now hardened face as he watched the distant sun slip slowly behind the massive Gurland mountains in the distance as if the sun were slipping behind a curtain.

His brief peace and moment of tranquility was abruptly interrupted as several royal Tartan guards, a tall older man dressed in a his dress military uniform, his breast pockets covered almost completely with ribbons and medals, and another man carrying a briefcase.

"My lord, Grand Marshall Von Brum has arrived, your plane to the Gatawan territory awaits."

Wallace turned, his royal robes lifted softly as a soft spring breeze swept into the room from through the balcony window from the valley below, The room filled with the scent of fresh daisies and other field flowers. Wallace, his smile now gone and his typical expressionless face returned the salute the guards and Marshall Von Brum had issued him upon entering the room.

"Marshall Brum, you have served me well in the past, I expect you will continue to demonstrate your strategic superiority and prowess with your new appointment, and I expect you will represent the crown admirably in your new assignment."

Brum began following King Wallace as the pair and their entourage made their way down the long palace halls, extravagantly decorated with busts of rulers and generals from antiquity.
Elaborate drapes and gold plated statues lined the walls. Similarly as the pair made their way the elaborately dressed Tartan guards snapped to in pairs as Wallace passed his heavy footsteps on the marble floors acted as an early warning to be at ones best lest face the wrath of a scornful Wallace, whom was rumored to have executed a guard for not having freshly polished shoes while on palace gate guard duty.

"I will bring great honor to the Reich and to you my lord, as I have done so many times in the past. I will not disappoint you for my success is the success of the Reich, and that my lord is due to you not I. I shall be your eyes and ears and when need be your wrath and your mercy. I can not begin to express how honored I am to have been given the appointment to Viceroy, a position not held for over a century. For the good of the Reich I shall do my best in your stead my lord."

Wallace nodded as his general spoke, the pair continued their conversation, discussing in depth plans that Wallace had for the new territory, along with Brum adding in how the goals could be accomplished, and offering up ideas on some pet projects of his own.

After a brief ride merely up the street Wallace, Brum, and their escorts of guards and attaches arrived at Belu Airfield, one of several royal only airports. The group took a last few hours both for staff to pack the plane with everything from clothing to Wallace' favorite foods.

Wallace took the opportunity to say goodbye to his wife and children, as well as change into a more contemporary suit, instead of the extravagant robes and military dress he wore now.

"Preparations are already in place my lord, to ensure that the transition of power goes as smoothly as possible, the most likely area of concern will be the north where Zambistani communist rebels have been fighting an insurgency since the collapse and annexation of their lands."

Brum continued to divulge his preemptive planning to his Monarch, whom began to feel more at ease and confident with his choice for appointment to Viceroy.

"And what measures are these Brum?"

Wallace spoke, plucking a grape from bowel that sat in the center of the table, eating it slowly and enjoying its sour taste, he then lifted his glass taking a few sips of his Alkardi wine, licking the sweet nectar like beverage from his lips and smacking them softly.
As the afternoon sun blared down onto the small cafe like diner, which had grown to become one of Wallace' favorite venues. It reminded him of simpler days when he hadn't bore the burden of ruling an empire.

"I have already secured support from most of the Gatawan senior leadership and senior military commanders, with offers of titles, land, promotions, and new positions. Further I intend to deploy the 3rd Army, to secure the capital city, and major port cities.
I request that two additional corps be assigned under my command as to deploy them to the north to secure the Zambistani territory.

Already the 6th and 12 Gatawan Legions have sworn entire loyalty to the Reich, this will grant us stability along the Yallakian border. That area in particular is of my greatest concern.
Lastly my promises of raises in pay and living conditions have been most beneficial and intelligence reports that dissent amongst Gatawan military groups to be high.
Apparently since the Republic was founded the government has neglected its once mighty military.

Intelligence is also quick to point out that the Republic government is full of corruption and has caused a rapid increase in economic decline.
I intend to expose these findings both to create dissent amongst the populace to the current rulers and to politically remove possible opponents to your rule.
Further I already have a large number of infrastructure and other public works projects to temporarily jump start the economy. Thus pleasing and pacifying the average citizenry while at the same time further undermining the Republic government.

Most importantly however I think it would be most beneficial for us to feel out our new neighbors, some may not take kindly to the change of power and it would be best if we not go into things blindly.
We must take great steps to firmly establish the Reich's rule before bolder moves may be taken.
I have already discussed in great detail the means by which this can be accomplished. I will lay everything out to you on our flight into the new territory my lord."

Brum had been stressing the issue all morning on diplomatic relations as Tyrrhenia was currently in a semi state of upheaval following the Gholgoth invasion, as well as former allies turning on one another. It was vital to Brum's success that some level of stability be achieved before his greater reforms could take place and thus cement his, and the Reich's rule over the territory.

"I will allow you to conduct your own matters of state Brum, as per the royal decrees issued by my great grandfather, I am entrusting you with all matters of state over our new territory.

Further preceding our arrival, an invitation to the leaders of the Tyrrhenian nations will be sent, inviting them to speak and address any immediate issues they may have, it is my goal to make sure that everyone both Gatawan and Tyrrhenian knows who the new masters of Gataway are.

I shall only intervene in your affairs in regards to incidents involving armed conflict with other nations, internally however, you may take whatever means you deem necessary to ensure stability Marshall I expect the socialist threat from the Zambistani rebels to be eliminated immediately, by any means."

After the brief lunch and a few more hours discussing plans and possible deployments for troops to ensure security, the group made their way out onto the tarmac, absent was the typical elaborate send off for the royal family, instead quietly with little media and only a handful of staff and guards Wallace, and his party boarded the royal plane. Leaving the observes behind as the sun finally slipped under the horizon, its last warm rays disappeared with the cool evening breeze that bellowed down onto the plateau from the surrounding mountains.

Shortly after boarding the engines fired up and the plane, with its contingent of eight F/A-84A Shadow fighters with tanker flights already scheduled along the way to ensure that escort would be maintained for the duration of the trip. Within twelve hours King Harold Wallace would officially more than double the size of the Reich and Grand Marshall Von Brum would become the first Unkerlantian Viceroy in a century.

To the nations of Tyrrhenia From the desk of King Harold Wallace III, Lord and Ruler of Unkerlantum

Great nations of Tyrrhenia, I bid you a warm welcome and extend my hand in inviting you all to attend my royal tour of the Gatawan territory.

There is much news to be had, and shared amongst us. Tyrrhenia enters a new era, one in which the Reich will play a predominate role in shaping the future of not only the territories formerly under Gatawan control but in shaping the future of the region itself I intend to make my new lands prosperous, this goal however can not be reached alone and I will require cooperation with each of you on some level.
While I am certain there will be many issues we find each other at odds on. I wish only that we handle our differences with rhetoric and debate, not the machines of war and destruction.

During my visit I invite you all to an open forum where questions may be raised and discussed openly by both parties. Initiatives and plans for building a prosperous and even more importantly a peaceful Tyrrhenia where we as regional neighbors are able to work together for the benefit of all our nations and all our peoples regardless of their race, gender, or religious beliefs.

It is my most sincere wish that cooperation, and prosperity may befall each of your nations and the Reich itself which has already been so graciously blessed.

Sic Rex Omius Potentious

Allow me to be the first, and perhaps the only free nation of Tyrrhenia to welcome Field Marshal von Baum, and the new regime of his Imperial Majesty King Wallace III; long may he reign. Hopefully, though the Gatawan people and the Waldenburger nation maintained a generally silent, if amiable demeanor, towards one another, we hope this new government will be a bastion of strength like unto its predecessors.

We are most pleasured to see that thus far the transition has been comparatively peaceful, and allow me extend any assistance that the Divine Reich may ask of us in future. Political hegemony, the combining of states, is a most noble enterprise and we salute the Reich for its bold and adept movements.

Though this may be premature, however it seems the Gatawan population will be quite welcoming of the new government, I wish to present you with the traditional titles of friendly monarchies to the Waldenburger state. On behalf of the Most Divine and Illustrious Empire of Waldenburgers please allow me to present Field Marshall von Baum with the title 'Elector of Waldenburgi' carrying with it ancient and traditional rights which shall be his as well. It would do us a great honor to see such a auspicious names attached to the title.

Unfortunately it is a time of great trouble within the region and I dare not approach Gatawan lands whilst such a multifaceted war is raging, and the Yallakians control the seaways. It is my great pleasure though to say:

Ten thousand years to the Reich! Ten thousand years to King Wallace! God Save the King!

Signed:
His Most Gracious Imperial Majesty Wyatt von Waldenburg IV

To: King Harold Wallace III
From: The High Council of Arrandin

The Empires acknowledges and welcomes the reign of Unkerlantum to the old lands of Gataway. We have long had prosperous and friendly bonds with the people of Gataway and are sure that the same will continue for decades to come.

While I thank you for your invitation, and completely share the sentiment you hold regarding the future of Tyrrhenia and its people, I must decline your offer to attend your Gatawan tour. Unfortunately, the current turmoil that engulfs the region does not permit me the luxury of leaving the Empire at this stage. I wish you safe travel though.
