OOC: This has all been cleared with New Manth, let’s not raise a stink here ok?
IC:
The Akula class submarine NS-23 had been shadowing the massive Manthian luxury liner Andromeda since it left its port, several days ago. It was now out in the open ocean, and far from any other vessel that could possibly detect NS-23 or come to the aide of the soon to be sinking pleasure boat.
Captain Hericus Clearglass looked at the reading before him, ensuring him that no nearby ship could possibly detect the presence of his submarine, and looked to the man in charge of launching the torpedoes. The man said that he could fire a spread at the ship which would ensure maximum casualties on the Andromeda, and allow them to be far out of the area before anybody even knew they were there. It did not take long for Clearglass to give the order to fire, and in minutes, eight five hundred and thirty three millimeter torpedoes were on their way towards the massive liner, sailing blissfully in its ignorance of the deadly threat fast approaching it from the port side.
No sooner had the last torpedo been released than was NS-23 making full speed to get the hell out of dodge, moving at maximum depth and speed to ensure that no one could know that it was the one that sunk the Andromeda. The attack, of course, had been in retaliation for the sinking of five Griffincrest oil tankers by Manthian forces in the Adriatic Sea. There would be no way, however, to know that it was Griffincrest who carried out the attack. Of course there would be suspicions and accusations, but the Corporation was careful to make sure all records were correctly falsified to show that no Griffincrest submarine had been anywhere near the area where the Manthian ship went down. Many long hours were spent to ensure that nothing could possible implicate the Griffincrest Corporation past finger pointing and circumstance, and as soon as the news was made public a Griffincrest representative was on his way to meet with the nearest Allanean embassy to assure them that they had nothing to do with the “barbaric” attack on an unarmed passenger vessel.
