A Volzgradien field gun battery opens fire during the final siege of Hrulen.
After 8 and a half months of fighting and at the cost of almost 11,000 Volzgradien soldiers, seamen, and airmen, the former nation of Arglenia has now been fully annexed by the glorious Grand Duchy of Volzgrad. With the last remnants of the false Arglenian government and Islamic Warriors crushed and their ashes thrown to the wind, the entire area has now been fully absorbed by the Province of Tannenberg or given as a gift to our allies in the Greater Reich of Unkerlantum. Current estimates done by the Volzgradien Ministry of War has placed Arglenian military casualties at over 88,000; with not even an estimate placed on civilian casualties caused by the fighting. Despite outcry in both the Grand Duchy and from abroad, the conquering of Arglenian has proven to be yet another stepping stone for the ever expanding Volzgradien Empire. The Council of Sovereigns and the most holy Grand Duke Alexander Kavinkov himself have announced the war as a "Massive success" and "A truly triumphant event in Volzgradien History."
The invasion, which began almost exactly 264 days ago, has seen Volzgradien troops advance from the borders of Tannenberg all the way to the Eastern fringes of our allies in the Dominion. While Arglenia is only roughly the size of half of the province of Rusgarie, the spoils of war gained have been duly noted as quite valuable. Arglenia is a famously mountainous nation, and its mines had gained fame for the nearly unparalleled ore and diamonds extracted from them. While heavily affected by the previous civil wars and the most recent conflict, Arglenia is still covered in the thick, deciduous forests that made the nation's lumber industry thrive in previous decades. Not only that, but the recent annexation has gained the Volzgradien Civilian and Military Navy a refueling and repair station at Nova Christae. Our allies in the Reich of Unkerlantum have also gained a hefty prize in the form of the city of Kroutan and it's surrounding terrain, as well as the Yaroslav Corridor which runs all the way to the coastline of the Bay of Holl.

Volzgradien Combat Engineers gaze at a mass grave on the outskirts of Saralon. Over the course of 9 years, millions of Arglenians were slaughtered by the warring ethnic groups that dominated the splintered nation. These particular unfortunates were gunned down in cold blood by the Muslim militia.
While the Volzgradien General Staff Command had expected fierce resistance, the declaration of war from the nation of New Chalcedon had been a highly unexpected shock. While the aforementioned nation never fought our forces on the ground, the New Chalcedon Navy fought several fierce naval battles in the hotly contested Bay of Holl. While the Volzgradien Imperial Navy stood victorious in all engagements, the majority of the Volzgradien lives lost during this conflict were during the bloody naval battles that inevitably saved the entire war from collapsing. Despite massive resistance, the Volzgradien Imperial Navy fought courageously and stood its ground despite heavy losses. As the smoke cleared over the Bay of Holl, the final grizzly toll revealed itself. More then a dozen Volzgradien ships lay beneath the Bay's deep blue waters, many went down with all hands. However, the New Chalcedon force suffered horrendous losses with several of their capitol ships and many of their escorts sunk. It would be these battles that eventually brought about the collapse of the New Chalcedon Monarchy and the eventual request for peace that ended hostilities between the Grand Duchy of Volzgrad and New Chalcedon.

Now, the future of Arglenia still seems unclear. Despite the eradication of the Muslim ethnic groups in the east and the pacification of any potential rebellions, Arglenia is still gripped by widespread anarchy. Only the major cities have been fully stabilized, and only recently have Volzgradien Imperial Army troops begun to pacify the lawless countryside. While the forces of the Unkerlantum Reich are providing most gracious support, the wild Arglenian lands provide a great challenge for any would be invader. While the main resistance forces have been crushed, the people of Arglenia are famously against occupation. Indeed, a recent announcement by the GSC has confirmed that one Colonel Niklos Stavros, a former member of the ADF, has been given the post of "Military Governor of the Kingdom of Arglenia." Naturally, this move has drawn serious criticism from both the general populace and Volzgradien military. Colonel Stavros was one of the last Arglenian commanders to formally surrender, and his forces claimed the lives of dozens of Volzgradien soldiers. However, the Colonel has "redeemed" himself in the words of the GSC by leading the highly successful extermination campaign against the Muslims in the eastern areas of Arglenia.

Interestingly enough, the Volzgradien Council of Sovereigns has made no explicit mention of just what this "Kingdom" is meant to be. The only true comment regarding the issue was an off hand remark by Baron Yuri Pavelov discussing the possibility of "An allied, autonomous Arglenian nation." Until more news is revealed, this is Reporter Yuri Kroshin, live at St. Adriansburg.
