The Launching of the Spirit

Today, May 1st 2009, will be known in history as the day Marktoria has achieved its goal of launching a satalite, the Spirit, into space. The Phoenix Rocket blasted off reached the Escape Velocity 3 minutes after lift off. The satalite, the Spirit, will orbit the Earth for three days until it will make its reentry.

OOC: Pssst... If you want to orbit the earth, you don't want to reach escape velocity.

ooc: The satalite exited earths gravitional pull and then thrusted its way at an angle into orbit. It will come crashing down in three days compared to if we didnt reach escape velocity, which would be a much shorter oribit period. I dont really think i should have called it a satalite. Its more like a probe-satalite. Like Sputnick.

OOC: So the Spirit will go into an orbit that intersects with the earth and will therefore crash into the earth. Gotcha. But you could put it into a permanent orbit at a velocity much lower than escape velocity.
