A change of hands and jubilee! (Open Future tech)

The Fedral Union

The Lawn of the presidential mansion was thick and green, the sky was crisp and blue, the wind shifted through the various oddly shaped alien and Terran trees through the ornately decorated gardens next to the stone paths. The rustling of leaves echoed through the lawn, the Federation flag was plastered upon the mansion on both visible sides. Ornately decorated fountain roared to life jetting streams of water in to pools. This was The south lawn. Tents where set up tables of delectable food , drinks various forms of liquor and dry drinks, staff and robotic assistant’s where setting up chairs near various clothed tables. The tables had a federation blue and white federal flag scheme along with several stars, crystal glass-where ornately decorated plates and other things.

Trees lined the outer edges of the lawn, force walls protected the area, they were non noticeable and rather tall to prevent any one from attempting to gain access to the lawn. Self aware structures and city observation posts where already on alert , Automated enforcement bots, Arial drones, Union City Police Department Tactical Response teams, Secret service marshals and their shuttles cloaked and hidden in strategic areas. In orbit several heavy capital ships and light escorts took up counter battery fire positions over the capital.

Beyond the trees in a distance one could see the utter thousands of spires of economic might they stabbed the sky with their steel glass cold forms, other building with white marble like metal forms adding variations. The sun glinted upon most of the tallest buildings. The horizon was filled with thousands of them as far as the eye could see.

Union City International Star-port was busy as ever thousands of shuttles from the Orbit to ground facility went to and from space, space elevator to the orbital docks where also busy, this is where most of the delegates if any came would arrive, either by shuttle or space elevator the low to moderate hums of the ships echoed through the star ports various buildings. As shuttles powered up and lifted from the hundreds of pads and runways , the star port it self was built with no tall buildings around it for security reasons. In the distance looking towards down town Union city one could see what seemed to be floating pieces of land over the ocean, they contained arcologies and various buildings.

One in particular would catch some ones eye, it was massive and shaped like a stepped pyramid, but it was sprawling with green lush forests and various other colors from the fauna on it, one could see water like the old ancient earth Hanging Gardens but much larger, it floated almost as if it orbited around the bustling city. This was the center of the planet temple worshipers. It was called the cathedral of harmony and light. Even all the way at the star port it was massive it seemed almost several miles wide, tall and at its perimeter. It glinted every now and then with sunlight.

Opposite of the city towards the other side one could see rolling hills of forests, snow capped peaks of mountains, fauna of all kind whilst the city was utterly massive it seemed to live with the planets native life in harmony.

Admiral Layton sat in the white house main chambers, he looked over President Elect Zimmerman and President Logan as they spoke to each other. This was their final briefing on the state of the Union and classified projects. Layton shifted his uniform slightly he overheard the conversation.

“ As far as we know the Coreidan-Chronosian Situation is a sensitive matter, one side wants to kill the other, then again one side wants to drag the universe in to chaos, but right now we cannot possibly support one or the other with out compromising the good the Federation.”

Logan said sitting back on his chair he shifted folding his hands on his lap as his eyes peered up on the incoming leader.

Zimmerman responded quickly saying in a deeper coarser voice.

“I agree, and I will tell both delegations and both nations that the United Terran Federation will not be involved in their feud, we cannot be forced to commit to a war against a loyal ally for the benefit of one or the other, In the end it would violate everything we stand for... Now about project Angle shield”

Logan smiled his face lighting up at the mention of the manhattan scale project that the federation had under taken. He spoke out

“ Yes! About it.. Its been proceeding smoothly other than a few delays and a malfunction or two there, its been going well, we expect to see results with in the next year or two. This should remain classified until ready, I know you agree for national security reasons.”

Zimmerman chuckled a bit he stood in-front of the desk.

“Yes But we must keep our enemies and rivals wondering what kind of ace we have up our sleeve, a mention here or there of some obscure project wouldn’t hurt. Any way I know we haven’t always seen eye to eye, and I know the Federationist party lost this round to us Federalist, but you did some good things for the country. I think the people got tired of the Federationsit polices in the senate. Interventionism is no longer the way to go in this galaxy, subtle influence and strength where necessary, but the nation must focus on diplomacy and peaceful coexistence. We cant go around dictating the affairs of other nations, nor should we let any one dictate other nations affairs for them. The Federaonist party are the hawks, the Federlist are the doves, the armored doves.”

Logan nodded and said. “My time has gone, the people chose who to be their next leader, its only ashamed you weren’t federationist, this party needs new blood..”

“Indeed” Zimmerman said. Layton smiled, he was going to be the new Chief of the Federation Naval fleet, a hard line officer with many years of experience on the fleet, and in the military. He was replacing Wilhelm Vanderburg, who was going to be reshuffled for head of indulgence, the rest of the cabinet would be replaced by Zimmerman decisions..

For now it was time to wait to see if any one would come to this thing, it was sure to be rather large though even with out foreign delegations.

Some people will never be happy, that’s the way it seemed to Trevor Desorté in regards to his security. The Federal Union’s security was top notch, yet his own security team wanted additional security as well weapons to defend and protect the one man that ran the organisation. Granted, he was married now so, operations would go to this wife, the Empress of the Phoenix Empire of Tanara, Dominique Ryder, should anything happen, as far as he was concerned there was no threat to his life but, there was emergency recall bracelet with anti-interdiction measures.

While perhaps The Federal Union wasn’t the best choice for a market, it’s status and rather unusual set of relationships meant that acceptance here in the TFU could mean extensive new markets, markets that just had to be explored. This is why he was here, and he was professionally curious he had heard rumours of some secret project. Details were sketchy but just enough hints that there was indeed something going on. He wondered if this was indeed where this thing was announced.

IC:

Imperial Consul Linda Combs, the duly appointed represenative of the Imperial Federated Systems on New Earth had been ordered to represent her Empress in lieu of an Imperial Diplomatic Representative at the inauguration of the new President of the Federation, W. H. Zimmerman. She realized such made sense because her office and his meant they would interact fairly often when he dealt with the Empire.

Knowing this did not make the tight security any less annoying, though since it was such an important event, she could understand why the Fedies were a bit nervous. Anything could happen, and so, they must be ready for anything.

It was a sensible approach, she reasoned as the Consulate vehicles traveled in the direction of the Federation White House and the big event.

The Coredian Ambassador was given the green light to go to this most important event. Inagurations are always fun but for the security, but she could get past that. She wondered who else would attend this new president's swearing-in...

Empress Cheng sat contentadly on te huge marble throne in Neonopolis' royal palace. Try as she might, she was sure she would never get comfotable on that thing.

Millenia of use by almost every emperor or empress had left its mark and not the admitadly awe inspireing slab of marble was one of the most useless relics ion the gigantic palace.

The tedium was broken only by the ocasional crash as someone fell over the twisting root desighns at the bottom, and this happened suprisingly frequently over the proceeding 4 hours, before the main doors finaly opened to reveal a slender male Dragona with golden scales.

Imediatly Cheng perked up, atlast some releaf from the bordom!
"Ajjan!" she cried happily, drifting down from the throne on her wings and embracing him.
"Majem" (mother) he said, returning the embrace.
"What news from the outer rim?"
"Nothing much, it seems the Violetists have finaly retreated to the neutral zone. Oh and theres a message from the Terrans."
"Good news all round then. It IS good news isn't it?"
"Yes majem, they've invited us to a banquet."
"Ooooo, a banquet! Fetch your coat, well pick the others up on the way!"
"I'm already wearing my coat."
"Then hurry up!"

20 minuits later the leviathan class ship Gracilis jumped to transwarp, heading for the TEC hub the Dragona were constructing. Surely a one off use wouldnt hurt...

Secretary of state to be Alex Shore stood at the white house’s front door way, the wind swished through the various trees and elegantly colored plants, the sweet smells of the various fauna filled the air as the wind carried the smells in to Alex’s nose, He awaited the Imperial delegates from the embassy would be pulling up at any second, Vice President Richards came up behind him. Alex was five foot eleven rather tall, his form was slender , his hair was thick and black and rather well kept. Richards patted Alex on the back slightly. Alex looked back and said.

“Hello Vice President Richards and what can I do for you this fine day?”

Richards just smiled, it was obviously forced, he nodded and responded.

“Im just here to check on the arrival party for the delegates... where is every one”

He said this in a some what annoyed turn

Alex just smiled obviously raveling in the irritation of the former vice president to be, Alex shifted crossing his arms over his chest as he said.

“I thought they could use a break for some lunch so I sent them off”

Richards almost sent out a low growl as he shifted his body obviously impatient with what Alex was doing, he responded saying.

“Well can you get them back here, we are expecting a TGM , Coredian , and imperial delegation in a few moments”

Alex continued to just smile his greyish-blue eyes peered down at the smaller vice president.

“Don’t get your self in a bunch they’ll be right back. Besides if you bunch up any more we might have to build you a new body......”

Richards growled this time now he was angry but just as he was about to tell Alex off, the honor guard returned. Full standard marine corps uniform carrying ceremonial rifles there where five of them, four with rifles and one with the Terran Flag. They took positions in front of the white house, Richards just walked away fuming, he saw the coreidan, the Imperial , and a TGM delegate approach and didn’t want to make a scene.

Alex just chuckled a bit, he nodded to the sergeant in charge and winked to him. Alex adjusted his suit once more making sure he looked good for the incoming delegations.

In orbit ships flew around the massive elevator docking ports, massive freighters undocked and docked noticing the protection and prying eyes of the federation fleet awaiting incoming diplomatic ships.

Orbit was crowded thousands of orbital habitats they were connected by space elevators, Satellites , and multi media stations filled what the habitats didn’t indeed New Earth orbit was crowded, thousands of ships stations energy facilities. Several other planets in the system where just as crowded one could tell from hundred of light years away due to the masses of communications and traffic going to and fro New Sol.

Zimmerman meanwhile was getting his speech ready, he idly shifted through the holographic padd he wrote it on, it displayed it in a three dimensional format so he could see it as a cube shaped. He ran a hand over his smooth chin. He wore glasses, that ususal for a man of his time but these glasses where special and had security scanners on them, and it did make him look good he thought. He continued to work on his speech editing a few things.

Logan was already on the south lawn with Vice President elect Anita Vanburan they where discussing general things they walked along the path watching each of the staff members and service robots working on the tables and other things .

The Imperial delegates had arrived with out much incident, though doubtless the apearance of a 2-way transwarp conduit swirling calmly into existance before the large leviathan class ship 'swam' out of it, skirting over a hab complex before dispaching it's crab like shuttle and drifting back int othe conduit, its undulating form disapearing in a white flash as the conduit closed again.

After the shuttle had glided around between the hab complexs for a while it began its decent to the suttleport and skittered to a halt on the landing pad before lowering the ramp on its belly to allow the 6 royals and their 6 bodyguards out.

The cheers of the crowd drowned out the other man's voice, the emperor half-listening to him as he watched the gladiators battle below. He managed to pick up a few choice words and when the drone that was the man's voice stopped he nodded.
"A new inaugration. We must of course put in an appearance." The other man's mouth moved in affirmation. "I however cannot attended. Send Harrigan. Kal knows he should get out of the country for a while." The other man nodded and went away, just as a particularly loud cry went up from the crowd, and a dozen antlions (http://www.hlfallout.net/images/content/enemies/full/antlion_full.jpg)were released into the fray. The Emperor put his fingers into a pyramid and grinned. It's getting interesting.

Soon after, a Nuubari-class light carrier jumped into warp, heading for New Earth.

Having arrived after a rather boring trip, Trevor disembarked from the shuttle and stretched cracking his neck before starting to walk towards the honour, behind 2 large bulky men exited the shuttle one after the other entering into a flanking position behind the CEO. Their dress were in clean sleek black suits, classic secret service garb with sunglasses, though the tint did not effect their vision, but instead enhanced it through the in-glass HUD.

Trevor did not even acknowledge their presence as he straightened out his cuffs making his way to the assembled honour guard, a Terran guard apparently doing an inspection of the honour guard before vanishing when ho noticed his approach. Trevor continued his way through with little ceremony and also did not acknowledge the Marine Corp guards with their rifles or the flag.

The 2 large guards kept up with the CEO and hang around like flies around a bad smell, though they didn't even seem to annoy Trevor whom still refused to acknowledge their presence. He paused as he looked over the view of the White House, the residence and workplace in one. There was so much symbology in that one building it represented so much more than merely a residence for the Terrans, but after such a brief he decided to take a drink deciding to grab an ordeurve deciding to check with the wait staff about the food that it meets his food allergy requirements (being allergies to onion and garlic) he was fairly certain about garlic, but he decided to check anyway just in case.
