PMT thread interest OoC

I have noticed a grave lack in PMT threads and was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing one. Now I am not interested in the whole interplanetary travel/FTL tech thing, but I know that I do not fit in the MT crowd- tried it and ticked everyone off. So here is what I have in mind:
To set things off to a good tone IC'ly, I was thinking something along the lines of a diplomacy or trade thread to showcase Korintar as an up and coming PMT power. With a more market orientated, outward looking coalition in the legislature that would seem most appropriate. I may consider also developing an embassy thread alongside it if deemed necessary.
I am open to any ideas that y'all may have. The most important thing that I am concerned about is that people enjoy themselves, because that is what this is about after all!

OOC: PMT as in flying aircraft carriers, mecha and powered armor?

Hm, not quite sure why I put the 'OOC' tag. =p

Indeed. So, PMT is pretty much things like mechs, space fighters (MT, too?), powered armor and particle beams?

no i think space fighters be late PMT ,early FT / FT

Yeah, to give you an idea of what Korintar's tech level, as well as degree of sociocultural development, is:
fusion power has been achieved and experimental high power railguns have been installed on an updated navy (formerly MT soviet quality, did not work). Flying transports and orbital space station/fortresses (does not use anything particularly exotic, like antimatter, mainly solar and fission power. has a few tactical nukes, just in case) are used to house special ops. Fastest fighter planes go up to Mach 30. There is a strong trend towards economic sustainability (both in terms of green tech and also policies that result in economic growth that can be sustained over a long period of time rather than booms and busts) in Korintar. Nanobots used in medicine, development of super conductors, cities look like something straight out of Discovery Channel's Extreme Engineering (mile high skyscrapers, sea steading, etc). Politically/economically, demarchic and pareconish institutions are implemented, small class sizes and early introduction of foreign languages are stressed in education.
Thus, Imperial isa, I am thinking early to mid PMT, and as for Techno-soviet, yes Korintar does use flying aircraft carriers of a sort, but they are easily destroyed by even a decent MT power, if they were willing to entertain the possibility.

O_o Really?
What about the MiG-101 Spiral and X-20 Dynamic Soarer?
Korintar: So, nothing like Ace Combat-style superweapons?

did they get used or made?

did they get used or made?
Well, no. But there were completed prototypes and both projects were ready for launches before they were canceled. This was back in the 1960-70's, too.
Oh, I made a typo. It was the MiG-105 Spiral, not 101.

you still end up getting told what i said by someone who been here longer then me
i can only guess due to how much tech needed to make it all work

Well, the Dyna-Soar would have been ready for it's first unmanned flight after four years. The construction had just begun when it was canceled. Not sure about the MiG-105 but there is an actual one laying in some Ukrainian junkyard somewhere. =\
Anyways, this is drawing away from the topic.
I'll post my nation's bit in a short while. =)

I am not familiar with Ace Combat, so I checked on wikipedia. If you are talking about WMDs, those tend to wreck a good Rp from everything I read and heard, so I would not encourage their use, especially in a non war thread... however if a terrorist group were to use such weapons and an international investigation is done to find out the group's connections for obtaining the weaponry, it could get to be an interesting Rp. In fact, Korintar does have a home grown terrorist group, as mentioned in my factbook.

I think such weapons could be permissible. I saw some of them, in modified form, listed on one of the storefronts.
Part of my reason for wanting to start this thread is to see who all is into PMT, because all I have seen recently have been MT, in which the last one I was told to bug off for Godmodding- which I did not intend to do, so I respectfully left after apologizing, and future tech, which does not really sound interesting because it is all about aliens and other planets and traveling at warp speed.
FT nations would spit me out in an instant in any war I would engage in. I do understand that it is honorable to accept losing...but self inflicted genocide!?!
At any rate I think it should be some sort of trade conference, which is why I mentioned setting up an embassy thread/sign up thread if there was enough interest.

I'd be interested in a late 2050s mid-range PMT with commercial exploration of the moon just starting, 2nd generation nanotechnology(for medicine and super-agents) kicking in, the world falling apart by a mysterious virus, democracies becoming tyrannies and a powerful corporation and front for an ancient conspiracy starting a plot to create an One World Government. Roughly the sort of PMT practiced by The Kraven Corporation, except five minutes further in the future, with the first nanobots already developed and in use and the cybernetic implants techs already being phased by nano augmentations.
I'm not a big fan of legions of humongous mecha and RULE OF COOL flying carriers however. So I suppose this may be too far off PMT and closer to FT, compared to what I usually prefer.
I'm quite new here obviously, been reading around for a while though looking for something like this.
I'd love to join in here, but I don't have a factbook. Nor with my current level of engagement and amount of free time do I seem likely to get one. That said it doesn't mean I don't have a firm idea of my nation, just that I cant be arsed to write it down.
I don't know how accepted that would be, but if it helps I'd say I have at least a fair bit of experience with roleplay, both free-form and regulated.

Well then, welcome Cogzahr! I would strongly recommend you assemble a factbook at some point, because I did not have one for the longest time, but quickly found out that it eases communication and reduces conflict the hard way.
As for Third Spanish States, I agree, though Korintar does have that to some degree, those flying carriers have serious weaknesses that need addressing. I like where you are going with the whole virus and nanobot angles. By the way I do admire how you Rp your nation politically/economically to be quite honest.
So perhaps if we set this as being roughly mid 21st century on Earth, provided that Plato's Atlantis is added, or Korintar would not exist, and have it intro as a conference on trade which gets interrupted by a terrorist attack. We could throw in a plague somewhere, be it as the story backdrop or the actual attack itself or a follow up attack. Which ever y'all think might lead to the most interesting story. Then someone Rps as the nation that sponsored the attacks, only don't let it be known right away IC'ly...mystery is the name of the game, and the Rpers have to determine who did it, why, and who is the next target before the next strike. As for the nation that sponsored the attack, it can be up to them whether their government or a private entity based in their country was responsible.
What do you think?

The only problem is that I'll be participating of too many RPs for the time I have available if I join, thus I can't guarantee any consistent pace of posting should I join this RP.

Don't worry about that. I know how threads go sometimes, but mine generally go a lot slower in terms of posting rate. But, who knows? That could be different this time. If there is still enough interest, I might start the thread later this coming week.
I'm still up for it, I could even sponsor the badguys but I don't know just how far to take it.
And how do you mean virus spreading? Grey Death style, less, more?
I'm interested since I enjoy PMT RP!

The guy you linked to sounds a little disturbed, but such a plague, in a simplified, more aggressive form sounds like it could be interesting to Rp. As for Cogzahr, no problem. I still encourage you to work on the factbook. Fyi, it does not have to be put together all at once, and you can draft it on the word processing program on your computer before posting it. At the rate of about, in total, an hour or two a day, you can create a decent factbook, following Pacitalia's guide, within a week.
I'm working on some basic information. Got the government and basics of the social structure down in Google Docs. Its all them fancy numbers (that make it a real factbook) that constantly discourage me. But rest assured I do know my limits (economy, pop and all that). And I'll have something ready soon enough.
Also any time you feel like starting is fine with me.
