Aglorea

John Press of the Aglorea Empire stood calmly in his office. The room was fairly large, the walls covered with a dark wooden covering. There were three large windows behind his desk, one facing directly outwards, and the other two angled into the room. The window glass was bulletproof, and had been proven to work. Previous assassination attempts on his life had failed because the bullet had been stopped by the glass. Emperor Press turned to the windows now, and looked out into the Imperial Palace courtyard.
Emperor Press has started out as the President of the Democratic Republic of Aglorea, which was soon, with approval from the democratically-elected Federalist Congress, proclaimed himself dictator and created the Empire. He quickly removed all rights that were deemed "threatening to the peace of the Empire." Soon, the seeds of rebellion had begun to be planted, and Press had removed even more rights in an attempt to removed this threat. It ultimately succeeded, once a number of his most public opponents had been publically executed. Several rights were later restored.
The former-President, Chris Rescudo, had been defeated in the election that had led to Press' rise to power. He had since spoken openly against the Emperor, and had, unknown to Press, met with a representative of a foreign nation. That nation had been willing to supply a number of arms to any rebels that Rescudo could form into an effective group. Unfortunately, Rescudo knew, the people would not rebel unless the Empire was shown to be weak. Only a military defeat could likely cause this. Potential war had been close, but ultimately avoided. Now the Aglorean people sat oppressed.
One Aglorean citizen had managed to escape the country. George Baker, former agent for the Aglorean Intellegence Agency, had recieved a telephone call from Sam Baker of Fatatatuti, and had promptly used that as an excuse to leave Aglorea. He was soon forced to leave that country too, however, when he killed another agent that had been sent to follow him. The body had been returned to Aglorea.
Emperor Press frowned at the thought of the dead agent's body. Baker's fingerprints and DNA were all over him, and there was no doubt that this runaway AIA agent was behind the killing. Although one man was unlikely to be able to pose a threat to him, Press wanted him killed. The only problem was that they didn't know where he was. He had more important things to worry about, anyway. There remained one more limited freedom that he needed to restore: the limited freedom of press.
He turned from the window and walked out of the room. His press conference would be very short, as he would simply sum up the returning right. The people would be able to communicate information so long as it was screened by the Imperial government first. Press smiled. He had complete control, and he intended to keep it that way.
OOC: This is basically a continuation/reboot of an older thread of mine that had died off. Rather than start over, I have decided to start of a month or two later. There are a few general roles that need to be filled, but overall this is a pretty limitless RP. You can join in support of the Empire or against it, either would be fine. Also, I need a country for Baker to be hiding in.
