Superweapon Under Construction (FT Open)

Charzak
24-04-2009, 21:24
Above the planet Charzak the outline of a great cylinder filled the sky. Almost half the size of the planet, the upper end was fully armored and many beings were inside. The lower end was still under construction though small portions were armored and most areas could support life. The middle of the sphere however was indented and almost looked like a satellite dish. Weapons bristled all over this new weapon. The cylinder, the first JWD (Jedi/World Destroyer) class ship New Order, was almost complete and the Charzakians were very pleased with themselves. When all systems were fully operational the ship would be able to fire superlasers capable of destroying planets through hyperspace, altering a planet's orbit, and effectively creating a Force bubble wide enough to swallow three systems. Sensors on the station could detect the probes and scouts of other nations nearby but did nothing. They had the Home Fleet to protect them. The New Order was almost complete and would be operational soon.

IN THE NAME OF GOD, FROM THE DERSCONI AMARANTHINE IMPERIUM

We, as Tsarbog and Consciousness of the Chosen, have observed Charzak in dismay. The Charzakians have been a blight on the face of the Universe since their creation, for nothing but chaos and destruction have stemmed from the cancer that is Charzak.

No more.

The Dersconi Amaranthine Imperium will no longer tolerate the warmongering death factories of the cancerous Charzakians.

Charzak will dismantle their planet-killing weapons immediately, or face the wrath of Our God for the sake of peace and stability in the Universe. If the Charzakians prove cooperative, then perhaps We shall re-evaluate Our Assessment of you and find more friendly avenues of communications in the future.

His Most Divine Imperial Majesty Tsar Alexei Bogovich Andropov, By the Grace of God, Ambrosial Seraph of the Dersconi Amaranthine Imperium, Autocrator of All Russias, Emperor of Pschycotic Pschycos, Emperor of Saint Rynald, Emperor of Wanderjar, King of Cherry Ridge, King of the Redemption Isles, Prince of Paxton, Lord of House Andropov, Keeper and Protector of the Covenant with Israel, The King of King of Kings, The One That Is Because He Is, Empyrean Imperator, Master of the Universe

On board the Muspelheim-class superbattleship, Vice-Admiral Korai Gravitos observed the displays within the meditation chambers in the center of the ship. As he received his new orders, the computer intelligences and he began their telepathic communications, going over the orders while moving the Sixth Imperial to its new destination. Failsafe protocols began, and the Admiral slipped back into his meditative trance, preparing once more to bring peace to the Universe in the name of his Lord, Alexei.

HMS Galactic Prosperity

Vice-Admiral Korai Gravitos continued to monitor the condition of the six hundred and sixteen ship Sixth Imperial Fleet when one of the perimeter ships communicated with the central hub.

Admiral Gravitos, we have four unknown armed warships approaching us. No one has radioed in.

Assume threat. Engage and open fire.

Sixth Imperial Fleet, Task Force Alpha

A collection of about fifty ships turned to face the incoming Lingards ships, calculating their route. The Task Force commander issued only one order. "Ignore the escorts. Concentrate all fire on the flag."

And so they did.

Once the four ships were in range, fifty ships concentrated every single available offensive weapon - ranging from spinal MA-Cannons to turreted MA-cannons to spinal particle accelerator cannons to turreted particle accelerator cannons, as well as nuclear missile batteries and subspace torpedos - on the Victory II star destroyer and simultaneously opened fire. Firepower and ship design were on the Dersconi's side - the Star Destroyer was, perhaps, one of the worst designs for a space ship in the history of the Universe, as the bridge and shield generators are isolated and exposed as if begging for assault. It also helped that turbolasers were terrible weapons, being easily absorbed by dispersive layered shielding.

Next time, it would pay for Lingards to radio ahead before sneaking up on a Dersconi fleet.

"I can tell that you know Thank you" THe Captain replied "Damage report"

"Fire full Turbolaser Salvo at the nearest ship, all ships" The Captain ordered "All ships fire Full Proton Torpedo full barrage, and hail the lead enemy ship"
"Channel open, weapons firing"
"What the Hell is the meaning of this, have you never had four Starships be flying in the Same Direction before?" The Captain asked angrily as the fighters were launched across the taskforce

Yes, but honestly, you're not going to make enough modifcations to withstand that kind of firepower. Its like saying an infantryman can withstand a full battalion opening up on him with everything they have, because you modified his armor.

OOC: There are only so many enhancements you can put on a Victory II, but in the interests of not cluttering up the thread, I'll just pretend the situation isn't a blatant godmod.

The TFA commander was shocked at the limited damage the Victory-II took. Goddamnit, this cruiser must be powered by nothing short of furious masturbation. The command was issued to continue to shoot the ship until it dies.

The shields on the Dersconi ships managed to absorb most all of the damage done by the rather pathetic turbolasers, with only a few of the closest ships having the lasers pierce the multiple layered shields, but then, the lasers only managed to hit the multi-layered regenerative hulls. The photon torpedos, also being terribly weak and useless weapons, did not fare much better against the heavily defended fleet - assuming they even managed to detonate before being destroyed by the 127mm rapid fire CIWS, or the solid-state electron laser CIWS, so no Dersconi ships were lost in the exchange.

Task Force Gamma and Epsilon moved into strike position and concentrated all available offensive weapons onto the Victory-II ship, thus to start the next exchange, 150 ships were assaulting the single Star Destroy, with the rest of the 616-ship fleet moving into position.

Cruising happily through -slipstream- SSN Wolfpacks 2 through 7 completely bypassed the whole pissed off battle going on and slipped silently into the system. Running under Gravitics the Sutufinai Space Navy ships broke their Six-boat Wolfpacks up Moving under full stealth they spread out across a wide front.

The Lead wolfpack, led by the SSN Surprise, was moving up the middle with the four other six boat wolfpacks arrayed to either side of her. They cruised slowly and carefully. As they moved they kept their sensors tuned on the normal spectrum as well as gravitic as they used passive arrays to search out enemy sensor nodes or possible stealthed enemy patrols or pickets.

To them, they had all the time in the world as they operated under a strict stealth operations idealism. The Thirty cruiser weighted vessels were spared nothing in stealth defenses. Enemy sensor nodes or pickets were quickly jammed with ECM to prevent them from getting a call back before swift Hyper Velocity torpedoes of rather incredible power turned them into scattered debris.

Oh? And by using modern physics... We shouldn't be able to travel faster than light either.

It's science fiction, on top of that, if there wasn't... Then why are so many writers, Animators, rulebook writers, and Game designers using it in space?

People say "Rule of Cool" for alot of things. This is science fiction, based upon science, people back in WW2 would have laughed at hte idea of a "Stealth Plane" or "Stealth Ship"... But we have them now. No we laugh at the idea of Stealth starships, what's to say in the future.... We find a way to do it?

The Jannarii cruiser (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/Nightbane/Gen2Cruiser16.png) Lochridge had just finished a diplomatic mission to Arcturus VII and was returning home. Captain Landers had just managed to secure a treaty enabling the Jannarii to import a special herb grown on the lush planet that had many medical and recreational uses. In exchange, Arcturus would receive Jannarii fungi that had similar properties but different applications.

Meanwhile, the crew had enjoyed a week of shore leave in the untouched wilderness of Arcturus VII, many of them camping and fishing for the first time on an alien planet. Alas, all good things eventually ended, and the crew was onboard the ship and manning their stations once again. The air of relaxation still lingered however, and everyone was taking it a bit easier than they had been prior to the visit. Captain Landers, for example was lounging around in his chair on the bridge, listening to music on his personal music player and sipping one of the specialty beverages popular on Arcturus VII.

I think that someone is trying to kill me... Infecting my blood and destroying my mind...

At the helm, a young seaman was watching a number of monitors and navigating the ship around various gravity wells and other obstacles to FTL travel.

No man of the flesh could ever stop me... The fight for this fish is a fight to the death...

Everything was going normally. Captain Landers took a sip from his drink, somewhat lost in thought.

White! Whale! Holy! Grail!

It was then that the seaman at the helm noticed something on the screen.

White! Whale! Holy! Grail!

"Oh shit! came his startled cry.

What remorseless emperor commands me... I no longer govern my soul...

The helmsman quickly flipped some toggle switches and slammed his fist on a big red button before trying to spin the wheel hard to port.

I am completely immersed in darkness... As I turn my body away from the sun...

With a sharp jolt, the Captain's drink flew out of his hand and slammed into the large bridge window in front of him. "What happened!?" came his startled question as he ripped the earbuds from his ears. Even then, the music was still audible.

White! Whale! Holy! Grail!

"A ship!" was all the helmsman was able to cry. "What!?" asked the Captain once more.

White! Whale! Holy! Grail!

"I accidentally... A huge ship... Right in front of us!" gasped the helmsman, clearly panicking. The Lochridge had exited FTL with the Expector right in front of her. They were on an obvious collision course as shown by the star destroyer's bridge getting bigger and bigger in the window.

Split your lungs with blood and thunder... When you see the white whale...

"Brace for impact!" ordered the captain. He hit a button on the arm of his chair and barked the order one more time, this time over the ship's comms system.

Break your backs and crack your oars men... If you wish to prevail...

The thick blast shields over the bridge windows quickly slammed shut as the crew scrambled to brace for the inevitable collision.

This ivory leg is what propels me... Harpoons thrust in the sky...

There was no way to avoid the crash, and the cruiser's special ram bow (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/Nightbane/Gen2Cruiser17.png) hit the star destroyer's huge bridge tower with the horrible sound of metal bending and breaking as the two ships met.

Aim directly for his crooked brow... And look him straight in the eye...

On the Lochridge, the impact knocked the power grid offline and smoke began to fill the passages.

White! Whale! Holy! Grail!

All vessels belonging to the Imperial Fleet will be disband after the construcrtion of four more JWD vessels. The JWD vessels will be effectively replacing the Fleet with the exception of the escort fleet. The military of the Empire will no longer be used unless attacked first much like our Chiss neighbors. All craft belonging to other nations please leave the system and leave a diplomat so that this may be sorted out accordingly.

Sensors managed to pick up the Janarii cruiser before it came out of FTL space, and gave the general order to cease fire. Dersconi weapons stopped just a few seconds before the cruiser accidentally'd the Victory-II bridge. The whole thing? The Admiral questioned in his mind.

Of course, he then picked up the memo from Charzak, but it didn't matter. Failsafe protocols had been enacted. the superweapon had not ceased production. It will be baked, and then there will be cake. In order to facilitate the expedition of the purging of the superweapon, thus bring peace to the Universe, Task forces Alpha, Epsilon, and Gamma broke off from the main fleet and continued to engage the Lingards while the other 466 ships - including the Galactic Prosperity - made the jump to FTL space towards the Charzak system.

Though I do not personally disaprove of this superweapon you happen to be building. As a matter of honor such things should not exist. Be aware that should you continue to construct this weapon, we will be forced to intervene.

Meanwhile-

a few light-hours away from the construction site, a Kergerin class heavy cruiser and three destroyer escorts were observing the construction with great attention. The destroyers keeping their eyes out for any other ships when they detectedthe hyperspace signature of a large fleet bearing through relatively nearby.

The captain aboard the Hawk-killer, ordered his heavy ruiser and the destroyer escorts to maintain silent running as well as stealth screens. Hopefully they wouldnt be noticed.

The ships stealth screens consisted of layered and polarized shields that would remove the ship from gravitic sensors as well as visual spectrums. The hulls of the ships were degaussed to remove any magnetic resonance. They picked up the Wolf-pack ships on their gravitic sensors but idly ignored them. Their focus was the superweapon itself.

Binarian Open Communication to Charzak

The Charzak nation has been far too warlike recently. This new weapon has only one real purpose: aggression. This weapon is a threat to the entire universal community. We shall stand shoulder to shoulder with our Dersconi comrades in our demands for Charzak nation to dismantle this super weapon. Its use as a defensive weapon are dubious. Why would you need to destroy planets to defend you're planets. I find your claims illogical and therefore, untruthful. Weapons such as this must not be allowed in unstable hands. We find that you hands are very unstable. We doubt you could manage to merely use it in a defensive role. As such, we shall destroy it ourselves. The Binarian Empire does not take kindly to people who try and build weapons that will can destroy entire planets if they are not firmly allied with us. So dismantle it, or die.

~~~~~~
The Binarian Task force assigned to assist the Dersconi fleet was assemble and preparing to deploy to the rally point.
On the bridge of the Kesselring, a Waffen class Battle carrier, Admiral Dönitz was managing the rather difficult task of preparing a task force. Trying to keep up to date with events at the rally point and the Charzak repsonse.
"Damn. some retarded jumped in and got his ass shot up for his troubles." He said, reading the latest dispatch. He looked over at his communications officer. "Send them a message telling them that we'll be a little late, but we'll be there by god."
"Aye, sir."
The message was relayed to rally point while the other to Carrier groups were being asembled.
Charzak Construction Facilities
The 466 Dersconi ships came out of FTL space without a hitch, the Armada immediately moving into position to strike the construction facilities of the JWD. There had been no communication that Charzak had ceased production, therefore, the weapon and the facilities would be destroyed.
All 466 ships locked on to the construction facilities with all available offensive weapons and proceeded to bombard the construction facility and the unfinished JWD with enough firepower to annihilate a planet several times over. There was no "last warning." In fact, the Dersconi didn't even bother to radio the Charzaks as to the Dersconi approach. They ignored any Charzak fleets (leaving the smaller frigates and non-capital ship escorts to ward them off, as well as the CIWS to defend the ships) and concentrated only on the JWD and the construction facility until it was destroyed.
When the Binarians approached, the Dersconi vessels picked up on the GP identification and did not engage. The request for reserves and Six-protection was thankfully answered by their loyal Prussian allies. It was time to purge the Universe of its threats to peace and stability, one crazed nut job with a superweapon at a time.
The Home Fleet opened fire in return as the construction facilities began to flash. The shields on the JWD began flashing and three of the seven World-class shield generators failed before the others came online. The station took some hits to its structure though not enough to seriously hamper the station. The superlaser however was damaged int he process and would take close to a month to repair. Charzak's shields came online as the three normal space stations in orbit fired their superlasers and the superdreadnaughts of the fleet did the same. Then the fleet did the unexpected it fired all its baridium missiles at the enemy. The missiles would obliterate the enemy if they weren't destroyed. The JWD didn't matter. Dersconi Sixth Fleet
The sensors on the fleet ships picked up the charging of lasers, and the AIs and admirals thought fast. Thankfully for the Dersconi, superlasers take a long time to charge, a long time to fire, and a very long time to re-target. Unfortunately, the Charzak Baridium missiles came out in droves. Thinking fast, all but one of the Dersconi ships made a tactical FTL jump to the other end of the star system, well away from the killzone. THe remaining Dersconi cruiser - which was, in fact, unmanned - charged forward at the Charzak fleet and doing everything possible to attract the attention of the targeting systems of the missiles. By doing so, it forced the baridium missiles to converge on a target that was suicidally close to the Charzakian space stations and fleet, all while the rest of the Dersconi fleet was safely sitting on the other side of the star system.
The Battlestar Coredia, having concluded a splendid little fight over Lingards a while back, now returns to invade Charzak itself. It had received a secret message from the Derscon Empire with what amounts to a License to Kill order for any Charzak ships it could find. While it may seem quite unusual for a nation known for its Jedi Order to be hired out as mercenaries, the fact that it's supplementary money for the weakened economy does bear an insight into the mindset of the Coredian Empire. That and everything is going into defense and research these days, so the consumer markets need it.
Anyway, it was time to kill Charzak ships!
Three dozen Binarian ships arrived shortly after the Dersconi ships opened fire.
"Well, it looks like they started the party without us." Send Fleet element Bravo to cover the Dersconi force's eight o'clock position, and Charlie to cover their 4 o'clock. Have them deploy CAP screens and ready the Marines for a possible ground intervention."
A woman moved up to the Admiral's side. She smirked.
"Karl, can you have your men leave a something left for mine to capture? Our farms are having labour shortages. The damn slaves keep rebeling for some reason. Maybe these will be more docile."
"I can only hope. These slave troubles are really causing your stock to take a beating. Some market 'experts', and I use that term lightly, think the union Aerospace Corporation can't keep its slaves under control."
"Karl, these things happen. Maybe if you used your considerable influence to get the government to losen up its restrictions on the UAC's defense force, we could do it ourself, and take care of these lslave problems."
"But then I'd never see you darling." The Admiral said with a laugh and wink.
The woman laughed, and started to say something when the alarms began to sound. The Charzak forces had opened fire.
The Admiral began shout orders.
"Launch a signle ship strike on the enemies weapons platforms"
The Dersconi fleet jumped out of the way of the incoming barrage.
"Shit. Take evasive manuovers!"
The Binarian task force was able to dodge the superlasers, and most of the missiles either missed or were destroyed, but a few managed to reach the Binariaan ships, causing minor damage to the frigates.
