All Five of the Justices on the Court May Face Criminal Charges
AURORA-
AHSCA's newly established Judicial System just took a blow as Duchess Shino Villa was forced to terminate the bench holding of the Five Sitting Judges. The decision was voted on by her fellow island leaders in a 4-0 vote with an abstention from Primer Suzumiya.
Chief Justice Icchan Suzuki and his fellow judges had detained a party of Imperial tourists and one dual citizenship holding native and one citizen of the Oligarchy of Motokata. However the detention was deemed unlawful by Shino Villa and her fellow leaders as the party had not violated any law. An Attorney for the defense commented that the party was in possession of a weapon but that the registration file for it to be legally brought in, was misplaced by the Militia at Embassy Isle.
"Our current law prohibits unknown weapons or other materials to enter our country," Attorney Azalia said "Which is why we have the registration program. If the weapon is lawful they are allowed to carry or store it. The party followed the laws."
With crisis averted it comes as a serious blow to the still developing Judicial System in AHSCA. "The judges had no actual probable cause to detain the party," Villa said "Therefor they acted out of their legal boundaries."
NLP party Chair Kaena is preparing to meet with her fellow leaders to appoint new judges but it could take weeks, thus delaying over a dozen trials and severly backlogging the court system.
Aurora Island is currently the only location where the Court System operates and all accused are sent to stand trial.
Premier Suzumiya has planned to go into Animalpolis Criminal contingency program in which all criminals will be executed or expelled. Under current Constitution Law Suzumiya has every right to do so. She declined any interview.
Chief Ayla of Corona and Viceroy Marco of Hoshino plan to continue holding those accused of crime new court judge. There has not been any comment by State Leader Anja from Stillestando (Truce) Island.
None of the dismissed judges have commented on their termination, and criminal charges are pending against them.
"These judges are versed in the law," Shino stated "Therefor they must be held accountable to the law they failed to uphold."
Besides damaging AHSCA's judicial process system, much of the heads in the government are also fearing this could do substantial harm to the tourist industry of AHSCA.
"Tourisim is a very big sector to our economy," NLP Chair and Congressional Head, Kaena said. "An incident like this only makes people more afraid to travel here. The thought that you could be arrested with out reason scares away any visitor."
The repercussions are yet to be felt but an Imperial response is feared. A scenarios list from embargo against AHSCA, to full out war has been drafted. Though much of the heads doubt this will result in war as the party was released within a matter of hours and Shino is showing a strong response.
