OOC: This will be the page for my outline of the new Republic Military Machine for use in MT RPs. The information herein is incomplete, but will be added to as time permits and as my nation's politics dictate.

The Romulan Republic Armed Forces are split into seven sepperate branches: the Marines, the Army, the International Peacekeeping Force, the Navy, the Airforce, the Coast Guard, and the Federal Security Agency. This page will outline the forces available for deployment by each of these seven branches (some information withheld for purposes of protecting national security).

The Army:

One of the largest branches in terms of manpower (along with the Marines and the International Peacekeeping Force), the Army is designed to engage in large scale field battles as well as counter-insurgency warfare. During peacetime, its forces are redployed for use in disaster relief, reconstruction, and infrastucture development projects

The International Peacekeeping Force:

The Republic military values peacekeeping opperations, but recognizes that peacekeeping may sometimes require a different set of skills than full-scale warfare. Accordingly, the Republic has experimented recently with creating a sepperate ground force specifically for peacekeeping and related works.

The Navy:

A corner stone of the Republic's military strategy is the abillity to project force rapidly to anywhere in the world, while maintaining its own territorial integrity. And at the heart of this philosophy is the Navy. The navy follows the modern reliance on carriers and ballistic missiles, rather than deploying the obeslete battleship. Other than carriers and transports, the navy deploys no vessel bigger than a destroyer.

The navy is divided into 3 sepperate fleets, each consisting of a carrier group, a transport fleet, and some additional vessels (subs and minesweepers). One fleet is kept in reserve as a defensive force, while the other two stand by to project force overseas as required.

The Marines:

Part of the Republic's philosphy of rapidly deployable forces is its Marine Corps. Marines serve three main functions in the Republic military: shipboard and base security, amphibeous assault, and boarding enemy vessels. They are considered the best trained and best equiped of the Republic's ground troops.

The Air Force:

The Air Force is divided into Wings, each one containing aproximately 100 air craft divided into squadrons of interceptors, stealth bombers, recon planes, paratrooper forces, and transport air craft. The Air Force also controls the Republic's air defense ground forces, including radar stations and control centers for tracking objects in Republic air space and in orbit, as well as the nation's network of anti-air craft guns and missile launchers.

The Air Force fields 5 wings, each consisting of

The Coast Guard:

The second smallest branch in terms of budget and man power, the Coast Guard is a small local force used soley for the patrolling of the Republic's waters, as well as search and rescue work. It employs a significant fleet of small boats, sea planes, and helicopters.

The Federal Security Agency:

The smallest of the different branches by far in both budgetary and manpower terms, the Federal Security Agency is charged with the protection of government officials, Foreign Dignitaries, and other VIPs, as well as the security of government buildings. It possess close to 1,000 agents, as well as several dozen vehicles including armored cars, motorcycles, and even a few helicopters and APCs (armored personel carriers). Its agent's standard weapons are semi-automatic handguns, but it can also deploy sniper rifels and riot gear if nessissary.

(Obviously, the above is grossly incomplete and some existing information may change over time, but once again, I will be adding to it as time permits.)

Yes, I know. What I don't know is how to delete one. I thought only mods could delete threads.

Will do. I've already posted a thread in moderation, though.

Also, if anyone wishes to provide criticism/suggestions for how I can improve my military, I'd be most grateful. I've never really put a lot of thought into designing a propper military for one of my nations before. In fact, I'm kind of new at this.
