Herculaneum Province State News, Militarized Zone

"In a move to deal with the oppression of Bigatopians in Gatwanaland, a small nation near the United States of New Lakedaimonia, the military of the U.S.N.L has been mobilized to annex Gatwanaland.
Sources reveal that the Duocracy, in consolation with the Gerousia, the Ephors . After consoltation the options to either give aid to the Gatwanalandians or to annex them were put to the Damos ( the collective body of Spartans). The Damos voted overwhelmingly for annexation of Gatwanaland.
Following on the orders of the The Damos, and the Duocracy (the two kings), orders were sent out from the Herculaneum Province M.Z (Militarized Zone) to mobilize the Navy , the Army and the Mechanized Cavalry for the invasion of Gatwanaland.
Even as we speak, inside sources tell us that "The 300", a Special Forces unit of the Army has been inserted into Gatwanaland to aid Navy planes in taking out command and control installations and infrastructure.
An unnamed source, close to the Damos, Ephorate and Gerousia has told this reporter that this will not be quickly over. "People should not expect a quick victory. Their ruler is literally insane, and will do anything to hold onto his meglamaniacal dreams."
The military operation is being ran under the name Operation Marathon."

The 300 are inserted via a H.A.L.O drop over the port city of Portamooth. The contingent of two, eight man teams jump out of the plane and drift into their designated drop zone.
The target is the electrical system of the city as well as the communication center. In a swift raid, The 300 Team Alpha attacks the electrical grid, taking out the guards and planting C-4 on the electric transisters with a detonator set to 30 seconds.
Meanwhile, Team Beta attacks the civillian communication center. Here however, a fierce fire fight between Spetznaz troops and The 300 Team Beta ensues.
Pinned down by heavy small arms fire and RPG fire the Team calls in a naval strike from the U.S.N.L Raptor. The Raptor starts firing rounds from their guns, while sending in arial support from the cruiser.
Beta Team pulls back, and sets up a defensive perimeter, while using lasers to guide in the smart bombs the warplanes launched from the Raptor will drop.

Meanwhile, on the West coast of Gatwanaland, Unites States of New Lakedaimonia warships assemble. In total, their is 30 cruisers, with an assembly of light cruisers and amphibious craft. The Navy gets ready for an amphibious assault on the Western beaches of Gatwanaland.

The Republic of Reijvajik declares war on Gatwanaland and its allies.

At the Reijvajik Naval Facility, sirens were blazing, blasting their high-pitched shrieks into the air so loudly that it was not unlikely that people all over Reijvajik could hear it. War, as it happened, had been declared, not one week after the Defense Representative, Ardon Wyjsten, had declared that Reijvajik would become a nuclear nation. The thought that this war might end with the launching of such a weapon was something most marines didn't want to think about, and reassurance soon came in the form of a letter more or less forbidding generals to launch the newly acquired nukes.

Marines rushed to and fro with supplies and missiles, fitting the various ships with their munitions. Others simply jumped into small dinghies and checked the hulls of the ships for cracks. The air around the facility was electric.

"Noted. Proceed on the aforementioned route. Tell the frigates to make a raft at the front of the fleet at 100 miles from G."

The captain, Philip Monaghan, stepped out onto the deck of the massive aircraft carrier, looking out at the deep, blue sea. In the distance, a cargo ship sounded its horn - a deep, rounded note similar to that of a bassoon, but slightly lower in pitch. There was a look of reserved confidence on his face as he watched the vessels in front of him - numbering more than a hundred - sailing gracefully towards the enemy shores. The battle would not be easy - he knew that much; but it could be won, if not through force, through strategy.

Reijvajik's military - especially its navy - had always been much about strategy. Monaghan knew exactly why the frigates had been positioned at the front of the fleet - their objective was to shoot down as many incoming missiles as possible before they could reach the more heavily armed destroyers and cruisers. Too, they were the only ships fitted with radio jamming capabilities, and it was also their aim to disrupt enemy communications.

Slowly but surely, the Reijian fleet was making their way towards Gatwanaland(ian?) shores.
