Highfall (Open, FT, Introduction).

Stalhe

"Full system power, Jack?" asked Captain Roberta James.

"Yes, ma'am," replied First Engineer Jack Salbury. "Looks like the Highfall will be having a good testing run."

Roberta turned away from Salbury and exited the engine room, going straight towards the Map Room, which contained a hologram map of the galaxy. She was wearing the usual uniform of a captain, a light slate grey sleeved shirt with the System Emblem attached, trousers of the same colour and dark chestnut boots. She was looking at the Stalhe System, the current location of the UNS Highfall. They had just taken off from Minveria, a small, icey planet filled with resources and the tenth planet of the system. They were taking the Highfall on its maiden voyage, straight from Miveripolis to Adleria on the planet Deciria, a world packed with resources like Minveria, though the weather was the polar opposite of ice. The entire planet was of a desert, the only city being Adleria and several settlements only there to mine for Decireld, a liquid which was found on all the planets of Stalhe.

"Keep defensives shields at two, don't go above that unless we go sulfer," ordered Roberta to her various advisors. "Get the Hydra ready, get the laser guns manned. Get the guys from the Land Forces armed and ready at Deployments, we're not having all hell break loose here if we have to deploy."

Her advisors scurried over quickly, to inform the different units of their duties during the voyage. The ship was brand new from Union Space Industries, a brand new ship powered completely by Decireld from the Ten Planets. She was soon alone in the Map Room, which also, if zoomed in enough, would show a map of the immediate area, including ships and their destination if friendly. Enemy ships were either named or blank, depending on if intelligence junkies at INSA could decpiher the name or not. On all ships, a depiction of their ships, their combat status and, with friendly ships, their class. Each planet was also marked, with the capital of that planet marked as well.

The area seemed to be made up of patrol ships, most of them Council-class patrollers. Roberta sat down and wrote a small passage in her personal journal, before exiting the Map Room and started walking slowly through the ship, admiring the beauty of the System through the transparent windows. She stood with her hands behind her back, her SLFI Empire laser handgun tucked onto her belt confidently. She swept back her chestnut hair and stared into space with her intelligent, emerald green eyes.

Her body was slim, and fitted into the uniform brilliantly. This was one of her few moments of free time. Soon, she left the hall and went straight towards the Clinic, which was empty. It was headed by Doctor Colin Ross, a middle-aged man with short brown hair and a beard.

"Empty clinic, Colin?" asked Roberta as she entered.

"Yes," replied Colin almost mournfully. "Nothing like a month ago."

Just as he finished the sentence, the ship spun out of control as a large noise erupted. Colin and Roberta were spun onto the floor instantly, the power going out. In a minute, as the ship was shaking, one of Roberta's assistants ran into the clinic, pale and worried.

"Captain, we've been hit," reported the assistant. "The power's out and a hole has been blown on the side of the ship!"

Roberta got up instantly and sprinted past the assistant straight to Ops. She sat down in the Captain's Chair instantly, and glanced at the ship's condition on the large hologram in front of the chair. The right side of the ship was marked in critical condition, with a light blue 'D' marking that the shields had been put up to 5 on the right side of the ship, 4 being the current status of every other part of the ship. The catch was that the lower level of the shields the faster the ship went, and the higher level of the ships slowed the ship downed. The ship was going at nearly a quarter of its maximum speed.

"Ma'am, permission to fire Hydra laser at enemy ship?"

"Permission granted."

The Hydra laser was started, but it was quickly shot by the enemy ship, blowing a gaping hole at the bottom of the ship which was covered up by a shield.

"Ma'am, the Hydra laser has been severely damaged by enemy fire."

"Fire the Ultra laser at the enemy vessel."

The Ultra laser was fired up, and it was fired at the enemy ship quickly. It blew a massive hole in the enemy ship, chunks of it flying into space.

"Ultra laser has seriously damaged enemy ship, ma'am."

"Fire again."

The Ultra laser fired again at the ship, and absolutely destroyed the ship. Debris flew towards the moon of Deciria, Dale, but it was quickly broke into smaller pieces by the laser guns of the Highfall. Straight after the threat was eliminated, Roberta breathed and started issuing orders.

"We have to make an emergency landing back at Minveria, we can't make it to Adleria. Tell Command we were attacked by an enemy ship which we destroyed, but the ship is heavily damaged and we can't make it to our destination. Start searching for the attackers instantly."

((OOC: This is my first stab at FT so forgive me for any unrealism but please inform me of such. Also, anyway can join in as the homeland of the enemy ship which was destroyed.))

The Star republic, Valiant Class starship Responder, dropped out of warp near to the Highfall. They had monitored a battle and were now moving in closer to investigate. They had no stake in the battle except to help the surviving ship that had been the victim, to return to home. As they approached the ships Captain, Thomas White hailed the ship.
"Unidentified ship, this is the UHS Responder, we witnessed a battle and wish to know if you require assistance"

OOC: Not bad in my opinion, just think of a better name that 'Ultra Laser'

There was a tiny bleep, and a pinprick flash of light on the screen in front of the Unbound. For anyone watching, it would be almost unnoticeable. For him, however, it was as if a nuclear bomb had been detonated directly in front of his eyes, but disappeared immediately. His eyes burned from the brightness that speared from nowhere, then disappeared. His ears rang from the wave of sound which smashed into him, then fell silent again. And the cyborg's face didn't move an inch.
"Communication with ship lost." It said in a monotone voice. "VTN Capital. Forerunner-class recon vessel. Uncharted space." A young officer, leant over a 3D display, touched a number of holographic images until the details of the lost ship were full screen. He studied them for a second, then frowned.
"That was new. Fresh out of Tartarus. Show ships within response range." The display changed, showing a list of 4 names.
"Fuck. One cruiser, 3 IPVs. Not a good day." He sighed and put his index finger and thumb on his temples. "Right, send them with weapons powered down but shields powered up, ask them why our ship is now a goddamn piece of scrap."

Captain Kray yawned, strectched and turned in his bunk.
"Statement: Wakey wakey, master." He opened his eyes to be greeted with the blue perma-glare of the ships protocol droid, a HK series (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/8/87/Hk51full.jpg), nicknamed Adam by the crew. The captain sat bolt upright.
"I told you to stop doing that!"
"Apology: My memory circuits appear to be faulty master."
"That or your a bastard."
"False Statement: No, it couldn't be that master."
"So why have you woke me up anyway?"
"Answer: NavCom have sent an order." The droid handed the captaian a slip of paper. The captain frowned.

A Sledgehammer cruiser (http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z107/Kain1235/SledgehammerCruiser.jpg) dropped out of warp near the two other ships, shields raised but weapons down. A breach hail was sent.
All craft, this is the VTN Tybalt, come to investigate the loss of communications with the VTN Capital. What happened here?
